Rhodia 19559C Dot Grid Dotpad, A4 - Black
Price: £6.25

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality paper., 20 Jun. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
High quality paper, with a glossy sheen that means some fountain pen inks can take a while to dry, so there is a risk of smudging, especially for left-handers.

Emotion in the Thought of Sartre
Emotion in the Thought of Sartre
by Fell J
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Very clear exposition of Sartre's thought on emotion., 14 Jun. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
One of the better expositions of Sartre's conception of emotion; it reveals something of the man under the academic, and it's also one of the clearer guides to Sartre's ontology that I've come across. Any serious engagement with Sartre's thought renders this book essential. (Heh).

Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow
Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow
by Peter Hoeg
Edition: Paperback
Price: £8.99

5.0 out of 5 stars An ice-maiden in pursuit of a child-killer., 5 Jun. 2017
I first read this in the mid 90s and loved it. On re-reading, I find it still thoroughly enjoyable. It has a whiff of Jack London and Joseph Conrad about it, with a dash of existentialism thrown in to lighten the mood, and the heroine is exactly what you'd expect the product of an Arctic childhood to be - tough, resourceful, resilient. I hope my daughters grow up to be as strong as Smilla.

Setting Up and Running a Therapy Business: Frequently Asked Questions
Setting Up and Running a Therapy Business: Frequently Asked Questions
by James Rye
Edition: Paperback
Price: £16.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price., 30 May 2017
A very useful book for anyone new to the world of self-employment in the therapy field. Of course, if you are like some other reviewers and already know everything, then you won't need it, but for mere mortals feeling their way into a stressful life situation, it is a valuable resource.
Topics covered include:
1. Starting up.
2. Qualifications and personal qualities needed to succeed in private practice.
3. Tax and financial records.
4. Working from your home.
5. Hiring a work place.
6. Insurance.
7. Money issues.
8. Marketing.
9. Other practicalities.

Having run a business myself (in a different field) Rye manages to cover many of the pitfalls that new entrepreneurs encounter. The book is a good investment, and is, of course tax-deductible.

Olfa KB4-S/5 Precision Art Knife Blade (Pack of 5)
Olfa KB4-S/5 Precision Art Knife Blade (Pack of 5)
Price: £4.44

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharper than my ex-wife's tongue., 15 May 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Japanese know a thing or two about making sharp blades, and these are no exception. I bought them to trim window privacy film, and a single blade handled the job to perfection, retaining the edge despite making dozens of cuts.

Oxford Campus Reporters Notebook - Assorted Colour, Pack of 10
Oxford Campus Reporters Notebook - Assorted Colour, Pack of 10
Price: £10.50

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for students and writers., 15 May 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Excellent quality paper, takes fountain pen ink well, and cheaper—per sheet—than nearly all high-street competitors. The individual sheets tear off with a neat, straight edge, which makes scanning notes into (for example) Evernote a doddle.

Lakeland Contour Ivory Toilet Brush & Holder
Lakeland Contour Ivory Toilet Brush & Holder
Offered by Lakeland
Price: £20.00

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a bog-brush., 9 May 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
There isn't much you can say about a bog-brush. This one is well made, as one comes to expect from Lakeland, with stiff bristles that remove *cough* 'deposits' effectively, and the design is unobtrusive. The head of the brush is replaceable, too.
It deserves five stars, but 'I love it' is too strong a sentiment - we've only just met, and I'm not sure if I'm ready for that kind of commitment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very cosy., 9 May 2017

Very warm on all but the coldest of nights. Frightens the bejesus out of the neighbours, too - especially when I look in through their windows.

Blackout Roller Blind in Different Colours & Sizes - Trimmable - dark blue 120x230cm
Blackout Roller Blind in Different Colours & Sizes - Trimmable - dark blue 120x230cm

5.0 out of 5 stars A very well made product., 9 May 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A well-made and simple to install blackout blind that effectively blocks all light pollution. The instructions are clear, although the first word I saw was 'Achtung!' - which made me fearful that I was being ordered to the Russian Front. After that shock, all was plain sailing. Would buy again - one never knows when a blackout will be required.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good piece of kit, 15 April 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A good piece of kit. The control is touch sensitive, but it sometimes needs a few dabs with the thumb to respond - married men will know exactly what I mean. The light has three levels of brightness. The lowest is great for illuminating the computer keyboard at night. The middle is sufficient for reading in bed, but the brightest setting is rather fierce - handy for guiding a helicopter in to the landing zone, perhaps, but too bright for reading in bed, unless you live alone. The clip is strong, but the jaws don't open a huge amount - about 1" (2.5 of those centimetre things used by foreigners).
