5.0 out of 5 stars Second only to Troublegum in my humble opinion. Essential for fans of the band!, 20 Aug. 2016

This is a great Therapy? album! I got it recommended by mutual fan of the band, and whilst online research varies, this is definitely o e of their top 3 albums. From the stop-start bouncy weirdness of 'He's Not That Kind of Girl,' up to closer 'Sister' this album sounds like the band had a blast doing this album. It has the vintage Therapy? weirdness in abundance and a lot of curveballs even for them, the album is anchored by great songs and HUGE riffs. Pseudo title track 'Little Tongues First' features one of the best riffs of their career as well as a nasty, memorable chorus. 'Ten Year Plan' is similar in that it's carried by a massive riff and even more great melodies.
'God Kicks' is the weakest track, as Andy Cairns for some reason decided to mumble incoherently like a drunk, and not in a good Ministry's 'Jesus Built My Hot Rod' kinda way, but more like an onstage rockstar meltdown manner.
The CD case is your standard, but, annoyingly if you need to check the track listings, you'll have to open up the lyric book as its not on the back of the case. I use the term 'lyric book' loosely as there are no lyrics, just a bunch of random pointless photos. Honestly they should've just put in a single front cover sleeve and track listing on the flip side. Rockstars...what are they like!?
The only downside to this album is the final track, or rather the final, FINAL hidden track, that is preceded by around 15 minutes of...silence...why!? The hidden track is also rubbish by the way. So, when the final track proper finishes, do yourself a favour and skip straight to Track 1 once again instead. Other than that, I'd say this album is second only to 'Troublegum' in the Therapy? discography, yes it's THAT good. Sure, there will be many arguments for other stellar albums like Nurse, Infernal Love, Semi-Detached or Brief Crack of Light (everyone has their other favourite), but I genuinely believe this album to be all killer, no filler, the songs are memorable, to the point, don't overstay their welcome, and showcases the entire weird spectrum of Therapy?'s ability.

4.0 out of 5 stars No Patrick Bateman, but a great and comprehensive collection of Manics B-Sides, Rarities and Live Recordings!, 17 Aug. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This album is split into two sections. Disc 1 is a collection of original B-Sides / Unreleased songs written by the Manics themselves and Disc 2 is full of covers, ranging from such well known artists as Nirvana, Guns N' Roses and Art Garfunkel to much obscure ones such as McCarthy and Camper Van Beethoven...yeah, I never heard of them either, but such great songs!
Seeing how this is just a collection album, there is an incredibly seamless flow to the songs, the transition from one song to the next isn't at all as jarring as you'd expect from such a diverse mix of songs. Production genius or plain class? Who cares? It works!
There is just under 2 hours of MSP here and while a lot of the originals / Disc 1 is great, I found myself preferring the second CD. ' We Are All Bougeois Now,' ' Bright Eyes,' 'It's So Easy,' are about as polar opposite songs as you can get, whilst the, I guess, 'Acid Blues' cover of Nirvana's 'Been a Son' is as unique as it is raw.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of, if not THE best hardcore punk / rock albums ever!, 12 Aug. 2016

This review is from: Bad Brains (Audio CD)
This is a great album to listen to in the car! Short, sharp and fast with an occasional foray into reggae. All of the songs are very short really, and the album is 34 minutes in total with the 15 listed tracks, but there is an unnamed 16th track as well. The production is typical of its era and genre at the time, it isn't the best, but then again, a crisp flawless job wouldn't suit it either! The album cover says it was printed in 1996, so I guess it was! There are lyrics to all of the songs and a short forward of the album's place in hardcore history.
There are many great, fast riff-filled tracks. Opener 'Sailin' On' is as fast and anthem if as it is riffs and memorable.
All of the songs are great apart from the pointless 'Intro'...which is the last track on the album...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perhaps my personal favourite season of the lot. Brilliant!, 11 Aug. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This another great Season and after the pain the long suffering And nearly depleted Stark family suffered at the Red Wedding, it's good to see a few of their enemies get their just desserts (not naming names).
The battle at Castle Black is epic in every sense of the word, coupled with the usual political manoeuvres and other unexpected arcs and you have one hell of a good series. But what makes this Season truly great is sheer number of memorable moments and seeming culmination of various threads. Highlights include (of course) the whole of Episode 9 dedicated to the Battle of Castle Black, The Hound v Brienne, The Mountain v Oberyn Martell and of course, Tyrion's epic trial speech.
One of my personal favourite stories is the Hound and Arya's journey. Two very likeable but completely different characters, not massively important or related to the main story (so far) but still very enjoyable.
As far as the extras go, there is a fantastic recap of season 3 that rounds up the loose ends nicely and even explains other, less obvious repercussions you might have missed. There is also an interesting explanation on the b*stards of Westeros

5.0 out of 5 stars 3 times a charm! The peerless Game of Thrones gets better again!, 11 Aug. 2016

Game of Thrones is one of the few series ever that seem to get better with every season and this series is no exception to the rule.
As opposed to the last series (6), they were still introducing more characters than they were killing...but not by much as you would expect.
There are many classic episodes in this season, not least the infamously shocking and heart breaking episode 9, Rarely does a TV episode carry as much emotional weight as the so-called 'Red Wedding,' and never have I seen such a shocking twist better executed and shot.
As usual, there are loads of intertwining stories and many new and old ones appear and begin as others end.
Another surprise about this season is that it is only 15, it is just as, if not more violent than the previous two and also contains some off screen horrors as well.
The extras are also great and very interesting both for fans of the series and at a distance medieval historians, or at least shows how history has influenced the series.
This is the second time I've watched this series and I think it's definitely better the second time around and may just be the best of them, along with 4 and 6.

4.0 out of 5 stars The last recorded (not last released) Beatles album is a great send off!, 11 Aug. 2016

This review is from: Abbey Road (Audio CD)
Before I get crucified for giving Abbey Road 4 Stars, notice, it is JUST MY OPINION! I've come to The Beatles pretty late really and have bought a few albums, all of them I find superior to this one. But, when those other albums are Sgt. Peppers, Revolver, and The White Album, that's not bad going. Having said that, I do find this one slightly inferior to those albums.
There are many great songs here; 'Come Together,' 'Something,' being the two most celebrated, whilst 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' and 'Octopus Garden' are almost universally hated for some reason! I didn't find them too bad to be honest, rather I felt 'I Want You' one of the Beatles song that I felt dragged on too much and the rather pointless 23 seconds of 'Her Majesty' to be...pointless really, I suppose it's indicative of the band's inner turmoil at the time that led their inevitable split.
On the whole, another essential Beatles album, if a little flawed one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to fit, comfy to use!, 11 Aug. 2016

Bought this for our neighbour. Easy to attach, no straps, you just attach the top to the headrest and its weight holds it in place! She is very happy with it and says it's very comfortable! I also noticed our local GP has one, so they MUST be good! No problems at all so far, only time will tell if it's durable.

Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

5.0 out of 5 stars A great, often overlooked classic. Essential for rock fans!, 7 Aug. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This album is an often overlooked one by AC/DC, especially for the Bon Scott era. Indeed, apart from the rather famous / infamous title track, many would struggle to name another song from the album, hardly surprising since the afore mentioned title track is the only one they ever seem to play live! There are some real good songs here, the rebellious 'Problem Child,' the epic 'Ain't No Fun,' and the closest thing AC/DC have made that resembles a ballad, the on the road anthem 'Ride On.'
Being their sophomore album, this is still a very raw band, and the production reflects that. Nowhere near as polished as the much more hailed classics 'Back In Black' of 'Highway To Hell,' but definitely an essential purchase for any 'DC or rock fan.
