The first book in this series was good, but wouldn't set the world in fire. This book however is so much better...couldn't put it down. Another cracker Mr Tayell.

I expected to be bored by now, but book 5 was just as exciting as the previous four. I want to see how it all ends...but I don't want it to finished.
Gripping stuff indeed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than expected, 10 Mar. 2017

It was free and about the Zombie Apocalypse, so I expected it to be garbage...it wasn't.
It was pacy, intriguing, insightful, exciting and quite well written.
I'm buying book two. Hope I won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the first book, 14 Aug. 2015

This is a better story the the first book and the characters are more 'filled out'. We learn more about PC Peter Grant and his family and there are revelations about Nightingale and his background.
Much more enjoyable than I expected. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Loved this book. Well written and intelligent. I particularly like the fact that the characters are mostly unpleasant and unsympathetic. far more realistic that the usual 'good guy/bad guy' scenario.

I used to be Mr King's 'number one fan' but some of his later books didn't quite hit the mark. With this one however, he is right back to the top of his game. If you are even slightly interested in the JFK assassination, this book will have you hooked.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD READ, WELL WRITTEN, 13 May 2013

Gillian Flynn's attention to detail is exemplary, but those of a nervous disposition will probably wish she had glossed over some of the more grizzly details of this story.

As with Gone Girl, the book is in chapters written from different characters' points of view and in this case different time periods. It's a gripping read and I enjoyed it very much, but not quite as much as Gone Girl.
