2.0 out of 5 stars Z2 in no way a replacement for the discontinued J3, 26 April 2013
the J3 worked flawless ever since I bought it. Der Sound is amazing, the quality of the RGB OLED Screen is unparalleled, the battery live seems to be everlasting and in combination with the microSD Slot, Bluetooth and 76gr weight it's an almost perfect PMP even nowadays - sadly it was discontinued.

Space for improvement was left insofar, as a 4" RGB AMOLED screen and unconfined compatibility with H.264 encoded videos at higher resolutions would be seasonable

The Z2 offers some of the preferable features listed above, but regrettably works unreliable at an all in all mediocre quality level.

The 3.7" Pentile AMOLED screen in comparison to the RGB AMOLED Screen of the J3 offers pallid colours and is totally useless under daylight conditions. The edged frame and the weight of 116 gr. not even approximately match the perfect feel of the J3 (or the haptics of the Ipod Touch 5G)

The sound quality is matchable with the J3 under the precondition that the chosen sound preset (such as "Rock") is applied to the music and to the videos, which for unknown reasons erratically can't be taken for granted.
In addition, the Bluetooth sound quality likewise is constantly impaired but this disfuntion, the EQ settings are continously not applied. For a device that due to it's numerous flaws largely appears bearable based on it's superiour sound quality this is a profound issue that should be seriously considered before purchase.

Above all, the Z2 video player offers no option defining what should happen after a video is finished (such as: 1/ Folder/ All). The player plays all videos stored consecutivly until the (already weak) battery is dead. Cowon is obviously indifferent about several complaints concerning all these matters.

Another annoying feature is that sometimes it takes the Z2 a few minutes to scan it's media devices (internal and external storage) after beeing powered-on, sometimes the Z2 freezes over that scan at all..., needless to say that the Z2 is useless during that "operation".

Summing up, indeed (with applied Jet Effect Settings) the Z2 sounds much better than the Ipod Touch 5G or the Samsung Galaxy Players and insofar it's beyond comparison, but apart from that, the plurality of disfunctions is an impertinance that does not deserve to be tolerated, in combination with the downright weak battery life, the dull pentile Amoled screen and the mediocre haptics my closing suggestion is not to purchase a Cowon Z2 and to wait until a worthy replacement for the discontinued J3 is offered.

3.0 out of 5 stars Box Set is nice - DVD is disappointing, 23 Jun. 2011
This review is from: Old School: 1964-1974 (Audio CD)
as a collector's item for enthusiastic fans of the Alice Cooper Band this Box Set sure is kind of a must-have.

Apart from that, mainly the DVD is disappointing, as I at least expected video footage from the 1971 St.Lois
concert, that suprisingly is only available as audio CD in excellent quality but not as video at all.

Regarding the Old School Box Set I looked forward unreleased video footage from the Killer and the School's out
Tour in 1971 and 1972 and - sad but true - there is almost nothing on the DVD, that would meet that expectation.
