5.0 out of 5 stars Great read, even in 2017, 1 Mar. 2017

This book holds up well and seems even more relevant now than it did when it first came out. Stross captures a reality that's more or less here with a plot that grows organically and is all too plausible.

2.0 out of 5 stars A nice premise but far too short a read, 8 Dec. 2016

It's a nice idea but could have done with more story, world building and character behind it. It's not a bad read, it's just frustrating as it has so much potential.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really good and a perfect festive romance, 11 Nov. 2016

It's not as cheeky as The List but it's Bolouri's second-best book with some really funny moments and fantastic characters. It rushes a bit towards the end but that's only a moan because the journey getting there with these characters is an absolute hoot - and you definitely want to know what happens next.

This book is 95% likely to be better than your work's crappy Christmas night out where that person you fancy cops off with the wee spotty person, so grab a few drinks, some grub and stay in and read this instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not that good at all, 2 Nov. 2016

I really don't see what the fuss around this was. It's vague, provides no real answers or closure. Not good at all.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok but nothing amazing, 3 Oct. 2016

A decent look at life with a US politician - in fact, slice of life is exactly what it is - but there's little hard-earned insight or realisation with it. OK for less than a fiver and as an alternative to the more heavyweight books out there.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read for crime fans, 10 Sept. 2016

There's nothing too gory in this but it rattles along at a good pace and is an enjoyable Glasgow-set murder/revenge story.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for use with iPhones, 8 Sept. 2016

Despite the blurb and material saying that this works with all kinds of phones and records both sides of a conversation it does nothing of the sort with an iPhone 6+ or iPhone 6S+ so if you want to record calls using your iphone as a recorder, seek alternative methods. Rode lav mics work well but are a) pricier and b) not designed for being in your ear.

(I was planning to use the iPhone as my recorder while carrying out the conversation on a landline - I wasn't trying to speak and record on the iPhone all at the same time.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good read, 29 July 2016

Doesn't always go where you would expect it to and the characterisation changes seen a tad extreme, but given the circumstances of the book, that may be understandable. A good read for the summer holidays. Unless you're a parent. Or in Magaluf.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but very basic, 4 April 2016

More a collection of "alternative things Daily Mail readers might not know about online" but still a decent read at a basic level and, in fairness to the writer, he avoids going hysterical and negative like the DM would. He's far more neutral than that and good him for doing so.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good story but too short, 2 Feb. 2016

It's a really good story, well written, but approximately half of the 'book' is chapters from another book. I can understand a short extract but not three or chapters.
