5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book, 11 Jun. 2004
This book has so many unexpected twists in it, it has to be one of the best in the Darren Shan series so far. I can't really say much without spoiling the book... but let's just say that it has a lot of excitement and nail biting moments in it. If you are a fan of this series then I recommend buying this book right away. It's a bit of a quick read but it really is worth it.

3.0 out of 5 stars confused..., 25 Jan. 2004
I borrowed this book to read from a friend and I am so glad I didn't buy it.
I really loved the His Dark Materials Trilogy and I thought this book was at least going to continue the story a little. What it actually has is a VERY short story about Lyra that just tells you some more details on what you already know happened to Lyra. And there's nothing about Will!
The book is WAY too expensive as well. This book is only for serious His Dark Material fans, who like lots of picky bits of background information on the story.
It gets three stars because I liked His Dark Materials and some of the extra bits inside were alright and the story did tell you SOME stuff that you didn't know before

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn the guitar-fast!!, 12 Jan. 2003
If you have a guitar and barely know how to hold it (let alone play it!)then this is the book for you. Even if you know absolutley nothing about music you will be reading it and playing it with ease at the end of this book. It goes through the basic things you need to know, holding a guitar, tuning a guitar and reading music, then its on to the lessons. The first six lessons show you , in detail, the notes to play on each string with helpful diagrams and photos with tips along the way. However, if you're really eager to start playing chords, this might not be the book for you. You don't start to learn chords until Lesson 7, and it needs slightly more detail than it has. Considering this, if you try to play chords by yourself, before playing normally, and without a teacher or guitar playing friend, you may find yourself giving up in despair and never touching a guitar again. Altogether, the book is presented in a fun style and you'll never be bored. Within a few days, you'll be able to blast out familiar tunes like Yankee Doodle and When the saints go marching in, and within a few weeks you'll be onto the next book!! Buy it, and you're on your way to your own band!!
ADDED BONUS: If you have any friends who have the fast track version of Harmonica, Bass, Keyboard, Drums, Saxaphone, or Singer you can play together as the last section is the same in all 7 books!!
