5.0 out of 5 stars A superb television with a stunning picture, 14 Aug. 2009
On your first viewing of this highly attractive Samsung you will be pleasantly surprised at how good it looks in that piano white casing.

It looks far more expensive than the standard black cabinet that most televisions appear to come in.

The picture quality for a television not costing the earth is quite something and im sure the High definition picture will be equally impressive.

This may be only a humble 19" screen but the layout of the remote control is very straight forward. The menu system that alters both picture and sound quality is very easy to understand,so easy infact that the instruction manual is not really needed.

Im running mine off a small set top ariel and some of the pictures are trully worthy of a tv costing considerably more.

It has all the right connections on the back including scart,HDMi,video in and out plugs aswell as the humble ariel socket for those still using the soon to be axed annologue signal.

Really it has the right amount of connections for a television in this price bracket.

Its the ideal performer to connect up to a decent surround sound system and it has all the connections waiting to take whatever you can throw at it.

The speakers may be small but certainly provide decent enough sound and theres also a facility to change the sound quality like a simple surround sound.

This tv is a clear winner in this price bracket and if you donot believe me have a look at one on display.Im sure you will be pleasantly surprised at its great looks and it would be the perfect match for a bedroom or kitchen but it was the white casing that sold it for me with the superb picture that added bonus.

This tv was purchased by my mother who wanted a straightforward digital ready tv come the October 21st switch off.I have a large 32" Sony without the built in digibox and that set is simply a nuisance and as i currently have no Sky dish it never gets used.

I was so impressed with this little Samsung 19" that i am buying one for myself as i have just also purchased a Grundig Freestat HD box and want to take advantage of HD tv without forking out a fortune to Sky on an annual basis.

You may think im mad to go from a 32" to a 19" but this little Samsung is so compact and easy to display that i think its the ideal set for a bedroom.

5.0 out of 5 stars A quality product which feels very solid., 22 July 2009
For this kind of money this keyboard is a real bargain and is designed for users who are at their desk for most of the day.

I particularly like the soft action to the keys which appear to be very sensitive to the touch, ideal for continued use.

Those of you who use a computer a great deal for work such as call centre staff or similar profession will find the keyboard very relaxing to use.

Unlike some keyboards this one feels very heavy and solid. The one at my place of work is well over five years old and still works a treat and that gets a fair bit of daily use.

It maynot have many thrills but as a no nonsense beautifully put together keyboard that will outlast most other similarly priced models this one is hard to beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars A quality item just like their tripods A JOY TO USE., 4 July 2009
Ive yet to see a poorly designed or manufactured Manfrotto product.

This Italian company who actually manufacture their own products in Italy and not source them from China or similar country show a keen eye for quality and detail.

Nobody can claim their tripods and accessories are cheap far from it but you know when you buy one of their products it is built to high standards.

It would be a shame to buy one of their tripods and not spend the extra cash on one of their carrier bags.

Made out of extreamy lite and hardwearing nylon with their keen eye on detail allowing a very snug fit depending on the length of your tripod 70cm to 80cm in their case. This bag on arrival felt very lite in its packaging but certainly looks well made with the company logo clearly stitched in several places for all to see.

My 80cm 144 Bird Tripod with head already attached fits like a well worn pair of slippers like a glove with no movement atall.

A full length zip and heavily padded head cover should provide many years of service and unlike their tripods its a treat to carry around with the provided carrying strap.

Carrying a very heavy 144 tripod around without this bag is a real nuisance, weight and awkward edges being the main reason.

With that tripod installed in this superb green bag and extra padding that this bag provides carrying your heavy tripod becomes almost pleasurable.

Im sure that the padding provided in this slightly more expensive bag really makes a difference in use.The tripod is securely strapped inside the bag allowing no movement whatsoever, how the unlined bag would behave im not so sure but the padding really makes a difference.

With the full length adjustable shoulder strap provided the sudden cumbersome tripod becomes a joy to carry around. As the shoulder strap is extreamly comfortable with no rough edges the sudden weight of your tripod vertually disappears.

It does go to show that a well designed and manufactured product makes its intended use that more enjoyable.

Now that i have purchased this excellent bag i plan to make more use of my tripod as before carrying this heavy item around was very off puting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality and dependable three speed case fan, 4 Jun. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you are familiar with these Antec fans you will already know how reliable and excellent value they represent.

Prabably the most popular size is the 120mm which are really efficient for moving large amounts of air from your computer.

As the name sudjests there is a small switch built into the cabling of the fan to regulate the speed depending on your needs.

I am using a 92mm version on my Thermalright Cpu Cooler to keep a Quad Core processor cool and it is pretty good at doing just that.

At this moment in time i am using five separate Antecs in my case and with daily useage no fan has let me down.

If you are looking for a case fan that is reliable and really excellent at moving lots of air whilst remaining fairly quiet then this Tricool will certainly work wonders at a realistic price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simplicity in itself for trouble free internet useage., 6 April 2009
I can remember some time ago having great difficulties in configuring a Belkin Modem Router where the accompanying installation disc was far from clear requiring knowledge in altering certain settings.

You will have no such problems with this Netgear Modem router as the installation wizard on the supplied disc actually scans your computer to find the most suitable settings.

What you must have is a current broadband ethernet connection otherwise the router willnot beable to identifie your current internet settings.

It doesnot matter who is your internet provider this excellent router will configure itself around your computers current settings.

The installation really should not take longer than fifteen minutes because the instructions on the installation disc are so clear and precise that as long as you know your current broadband identification and password the rest is done automatically.

I wish i had known how trouble free the Netgear installation was because i would have bought this stylish Router ages ago.

If you are looking for a superb easy as pie to install Modem router this Netgear DG834G is the one to go for but you must ensure you buy the V3 model as the newer v4 is not quite as straight forward in installing as the almost identical v3 model.

The real bonus is a significant increase in Broadband speed which is certainly noticable when downloading files and Norton Live updates.

There are certainly many different Modem routers out there but this one by Netgear is certainly one of the better ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Splendid ariel photography in this excellent film, 4 Feb. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Blue Max [DVD] (DVD)
George Peppard clearly has a great deal to prove as a civilian wounded in the carnage of the trenches of WW1.He sees the heroic and galant pilots flying a different war above and desides to enlist seeing the glamour of the fighter aces.

He is never really seen as one of the unit, the majority of the squadron are officers from the upper classes who live life to the full drinking champagne and eating excellent food.

The scenes of trench warfare are amongst the finest ever filmed and the film magnificently captures that era of the Great War.

The only way Bruno Stachell the character played really well by Peppard can prove himself to his superiors is in the air.

The awarding ceremony of the coveted Pour Le Merit or Blue Max to the squadron leader brings on a singleminded determination to win the award for himself.

It is this part of the film where the ariel cinematography is the making of this film.

Peppard through all devious and less devious actions sees his kill tally steadily rise to that elusive target of twenty kills when then few piolts lasted longer than a few weeks.

His ability as a pilot sees the famous Von Rhichtoffen offer him the opportunity to join his squadron but he declines wishing to remain with his unit.

James Mason the distinguished General and his gorgeous younger wife played by Ursula Andress soon learn of his prowess in the air,and it is Mason who eventually presents Peppard with the highest honour of Prussia THE BLUE MAX.

Peppard's stunning looks attract Ursula Andress and the two carry on a secret love affair.

Peppards fame as the common soldier who becomes a famous air ace is great moral for a Prussia that clearly is loosing the war.

As a great honour Peppard is allowed to be the first pilot to test the far from safe new monoplane that if successfull could turn the tide of the war.

Peppard has become to big a hero and must be quickly removed from the scene, and the finally of the film sees a tearfull Ursula Andress and James Mason listen to the plane crash to the ground.

Her secret of the pashionate love affair is out and the scandal of the upper class ladies fling with a commoner must be kept secret.

The Blue Max is one of those magnificent war time dramas that came out of the sixties and early seventies and its a shame such films donot get regular coverage.

5.0 out of 5 stars This fan really moves AIR and cools your case brilliantly., 16 Jan. 2009
Compared to the opposition ie Akasa,Thermaltake,Evercool this is the only fan that provides sufficient air movement within my case to play Crysis at its highest settings.

If you are familiar with Crysis it is especially demanding on your graphics and processor producing quite a bit of heat.

This Antec on its highest fan setting even though its slightly noisy really shifts a large amount of air unlike my Akasa fans which only run at one speed which often cannot shift the required air to cool a powerfull gaming system.

Akasa certainly make pretty fans with their multicoloured lights but their fans only operate at one speed whilst Antec have three speed control.
It would be interesting to see which system shifted the most air, three Antecs or three Akasas,i think i already know the answer to that one.

All Antec fans have the Molex plug installed aswell as the extra fan control cable with the small three speed switch on the end.

Antec make the Led version of this excellent fan so if you want one of the most powerfull three speed fans on the market Antec have the answer.

Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 With Side Window Case
Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 With Side Window Case

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning quality and high specification but at a cost, 15 Jan. 2009
If you own or are thinking of a new case that will house anything currently available then the CoolerMaster Cosmos will certainly fit the bill.

Smaller mid-tower cases often struggle to accommodate the larger 8800GTx cards and other newer models. The size and also weight of the Cosmos means that no matter what set up you have there is space available.

Certain Power Supplies such as the Enermax Galaxy series are nearly 9inches long and simply willnot fit comfortably with all the cables connected into your average case.No problems here, there's plenty of room.

The Cosmos tips the scales at a mighty 18Kg being made of both steel and aluminium.

CoolerMaster have spent a great deal of time thinking about the layout and especially cable management of this case. All the drive bays are tool free in operation and with so much room inside the case cooling it should really be no problem.

This is a case designed for the serious enthusiast who wants to install his or her dream set up money no object.

The motherboard simply looks lost within the case, there is so much room that you can place anything of any size especially the ridiculously tall CPu coolers.

This model has the lovely clear perspex window option so you can show off your expensive toys within.

There is also a Sport model with the same dimensions but the Sport has the tempremental soft touch power button and is made entirely out of more expensive aluminium and obviously costs more.

Until i actually saw and handled the Cosmos firsthand i couldnot have imagined the quality of manufacture.

You can spend hours looking at it on the internet but i can tell you firsthand this case even though its not cheap is worth every penny.

You willnot feel shortchanged after taking delivery,it is a beautifull piece of kit with not a single sharp edge or poor quality part.

If like me you were dismayed at the many cases on the market promising superior cooling and the like then you will realise what a hard job it is in choosing the right case.

Look at the price Coolermaster is asking for their Cosmos and ask yourself why is it amongst the most expensive cases availabe.

QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY is the answer.Even the perspex window is rigid and made to very high standards. It doesnot flex like most other cases ive looked at.

The only downside to ownership i can see is the sheer size of the thing, prabably too large for most peoples desk but if you need massive amount of storage space that the Cosmos delivers in abundance then size is something you have to put up with.

Its a case you always dreamed of owning but were put off by the price.

If you can afford it donot hesitate its worth every penny with the peace of mind knowing that if you are kicked out of your home atleast you can sleep inside it ITS MASSIVE.

Crysis (PC DVD)

5.0 out of 5 stars The only game ive played that YOU and not the game are in control., 18 Dec. 2008
This review is from: Crysis (PC DVD) (Computer Game)
Crysis with its simply stunning graphics especially at its highest settings is a game whereby you dictate the action.

If you donot want to confront the enemy you can avoid them almost indefinately which i know goes against the spirit of the game but once you know what is actually coming up from level to level and village and outpost it is totally up to you where and what you do.

There are few Pc games ive played where if you choose to avoid the enemy you can do so.

The game software automatically dictates the game and you cannot avoid what the next level provides.

I cannot think of many games whereby you can go where you want and do what you want. You can even retrace your steps right back to the begining which to my knowledge is unique in any first person game other than its sister game Crysis Warhead.

As i have said this game is about graphics and processor capability.
The North Koreans move like real people, die like real people and even bleed like real people.

The action when it gets intense at the village where the first hostage is to be found can be relentless. You have to learn what room to enter to retreave the Rocket launchers. You have to think what weapons to discard or keep and above all you have to think tactics.

Shall i use the boats or vehicles to get around this island or to approach stongholds.

Once you know how and what happens at each stage you can think what to do.

The end result i know will be the same DESTRUCTION of the alien beings and saving of mankind but CRYSIS with its to die for visuals and sound effects is and will remain the most polished computer action game there is.

Playing it in Vista with its reliance on Direct X10 graphics technology brigs a further dimension to the game.Underwater action is extreamly realistic with little fish swimming by.

The longer you play the game the more you realise what a magnificent achievement it is.You can go where you want and do what you want to achieve your end goal.

Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000
Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Sensitive Mouse Welcome 21 Century, 5 Dec. 2008
To say im impressed with how this mouse looks and operates is putting it mildly.
I was quite happy with my no thrills Microsoft IntelliMouse which as we all know is optical and works a treat but the sensitivity of LASER technology is a step up in performance.Everything happens so quickly.

I really love the looks of this 7000 mouse with the mouse contoured to fit your hand which takes a while to get used to.

At the moment this is cutting edge technology just as optical was a huge step forward over that dreaded nuisance of ball and fluff.

This model works with radio control by the use of a very smart glow in the dark USB dongle that plugs into any available port.

Installation was simplicity in itself with Vista 64bit software instantly recognising the signal. The sensitivity of the mouse takes a bit getting used to,everything happens a lot faster than normal with the mouse cursor travelling at much faster speeds than optical mice can provide.

If you are into graphic design where the use of the mouse is vital to your work then LASER mouse technology is where you should be.

The chrome work around the sides and buttons are silky smooth.

The price may be at the moment up market but the way this 7000 mouse works and looks justifies that price.

The only gripe i suppose is the shaving style two pronged connection for the mains lead that plugs neatly into the lovely to look at base unit.

Us in the UK last time i can remember have a different three pronged arrangement but the purchase of that shaving mains adapter solves the problem.

Everything about this mouse is pleasing to the eye,so much so the mouse im testing or using was meant as a christmas present but im not sure whether im now willing to part with it.
