This review is from: An Armenian Sketchbook (Hardcover)
Grossman made an extended visit to Armenia to translate a book. In the process he fell in love with the country and people. This is a vivid and moving account which I would recommend to any lover of good writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cold war brought alive, 30 Oct. 2010
This is one of the best histories I have read in many years. Having lived through the whole of the period Judt covered I have lost count of the number of times I have been brought up short by vivid memories and illuminated by the insight he brings to them.

His death is a sad loss to human understanding.
