Humanoids From the Deep [DVD] [1980] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC]
Humanoids From the Deep [DVD] [1980] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC]
Dvd ~ Emma Samms

3.0 out of 5 stars good fun!!, 21 Nov. 2010
this dvd is not the one starring Emma Samms and Robert Carradine(1996) but the one starring Doug McClure and Ann Turkel(1980).Its an ok movie shot on a low budget with not exactly top of the range monsters who terrorize a seaside town in the USA.Aside from the naff monsters there is some decent explosions coupled with ropey dialogue and acting.Vic Morrow is the best actor on show as the town bully. The extras are quite good ,a making of..(22;41),a short interview with producer Roger Corman(3;27),deleted scenes(7;12) radio and tv spots(1;02),gallery and trailers from other Corman movies.Overall a good set for an ok B movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars give it a chance.!, 26 July 2010
This review is from: Live In Poland (DVD)
As someone who saw Genesis on this tour,in Dublin,i was so glad to see a concert come out on dvd.Although the other reviewer is correct in saying that it could have been better i was pleasantly surprised by its quality.Ray Wilson is a fine singer and does a good job with the older songs such as The lamb lies down on broadway,Land of confusion,Carpet crawlers,Mama,Invisible touch,Turn it on again,I cant dance and excerpts from Dancing with the moonlit knight and Suppers ready,he also gives the newer songs ,Calling all stations,Alien afternoon,Shipwrecked,Congo and others, real power and gusto which was apparent from the very good album Calling all stations. So all in all a decent recording from a good band who really should have been given more of a chance.By the way i have been a genesis fan since the mid 70s so i have lived through all their incarnations and although not as good as previous bands and tours its still good and worth a watch.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2 disc edition., 30 Jun. 2010
This review is from: It Came From Beneath The Sea (DVD)
the picture shows the 2 disc edition of this 50s classic but for some reason there is no mention of this in amazons product description. It comes with both b/w and colour versions(the colour version looks fantastic) and you can flick between them as you would an audio commentary so you can see the difference. It also has an audio commentary with ray harryhausen and other modern special effects men.The second disc has a wealth of extras, a making of..(21:44),a talk between ray harry hausen and tim burton(27:10),a stop motion featurette(11:38),a featurette on music in 50s sci-fi(22:33),a featurette on the original artwork and memorabilia(17:52)and galleries (29:48) also a comic strip.good set.

3.0 out of 5 stars the trees have eyes?, 19 April 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you are a fan of "The hills have eyes" you will either love this movie for being similiar or hate it for copying it.The main difference is that the victims in this are in the woods rather than a valley. Its not a bad movie but i was disappointed by the lack of gore and also the lack of any real back story of the killers. There isnt much else to say without giving away the plot(but if you have seen "hills" you virtually know it anyway and if you havent well you may still enjoy this). The main actors are Greg Henry,Deborah Benson,Chris Lemmon(Jacks son) and a woefully underused George Kennedy. This region 1 two discer comes with a commentary by director Jeff Lieberman and a cast and crew interview section which lasts just over an hour and is rather amateurish in places. Also it has a host of trailers for other movies in the genre.

3.0 out of 5 stars god and monster, 25 Jan. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This 1975 film from Pete Walker is about a catholic priest who uses his confessional box in an unorthodox fashion by taping his parishoners confessions. The priest uses these tapes to morally blackmail them but with no,seemingly, monitory gain.It really only deals with two blackmail victims, both young women, and one of them as a subplot. The main victim is Susan Penhaligon and this leads to a string of deaths, some nicely using religious items as weapons. The film goes along reasonably fast paced and has a "nice" twist ending. It also stars Stephanie Beacham,Anthonty Sharp(whose face will be more familiar than his name),Norman Eshley(Mr Fourmile from George and Mildred)and Walker regular Shelia Keith. There is also a small role for Andrew Sachs just pre Fawlty towers. The disc has quite a few extras,an audio commentary by director Pete Walker,a tribute to Shelia Keith(13:49) and a documentary "courting controversy" about a few of Walkers films(37:31).There is also a gallery of artwork and lobby cards(1:04)and a selection of Pete Walker trailers(11:35).A very good selection.
