A humorous story of two mexicans who go out and get completely stoned. There are many laughs to be had but I found that the DVD was indeed quite short, thus why I only gave it 3 stars.

It is with a great deal of regret that I did not attend the concert @ The Gelredome in May 2003...
...for it was truly a magical night. Watching this DVD for the first time made me realise why Tiesto is such a good DJ. Apart from being a very skilled mixer and imaginative producer, he is also a great entertainer. Tiesto engages himself with the crowd to the fullest extent. He always managages to feel the wavelengths that are floating about and endeavours to feed the crowd's hunger.
There were an awful lot of very special performances at this concert. It was great to see a "World Theme" by means of periodic acts by various countries around the world. Quite a few of the tracks on this DVD are featured on Tiesto's Mix Album of 2003 "Nyana". There are also plenty of other older tracks that never fail to capture his faithful follower's emotions.
Guests of the evening include:
Jan Johnston - The UK Lady of Trance with her stormer "Skydive".
Dinand - an absolutely fantastic performance of "Rain On Me". He gives a great deal of much appreciated praise to Tiesto, forcing him out of the booth and onto the front to bop with the crowd, sending the whole place wild!
Andain - who perfectly sings "Beautiful Things". Another stunning performance. This tune is more melodic and relaxed.
The DVD is long at a whopping 3 hours 28 minutes. But I promise you that you will not be bored. I put it on one saturday morning and was nearly late for work I was so hooked. From beginning to end this is a masterpiece, a mesmerizing piece of musical history never to be forgotten (certainly not by Tiesto who looked like he had a bloody good time himself).
Audio and video quality is also very good throughout. Do not hesitate to buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Provides helpful preparation for the exams, 20 July 2004
This book is an ideal tool to supplement learning and revision for the P2 exam. Each chapter has clear learning outcomes.
Key points are highlighted and explained clearly and concisely. More importantly, there are various worked examination questions for you to look through so that you can get a feel for the sorts of things that will be asked in the real examination and the standard of answer required.
My Maths teacher has told me (on more than one occasion) that maths students often lose marks not because they don't know their stuff but because they fail to show their method properly. The explanations in this book does help address this.
There are also plenty of questions for you to try and the answers are provided at the back. There doesn't appear to be any errors in the answers.
A word of warning though - I wouldn't recommend this book as the ONLY revision aid. Use it to learn/refresh key concepts and to try some questions.
I believe real exam success comes from attempting as many past exam questions as possible and these can be obtained from your school and the Edexcel Examining Board.

Black And Blue (A Rebus Novel)
Black And Blue (A Rebus Novel)

5.0 out of 5 stars Wicked!, 20 July 2004
I picked this book up simply because it featured in a 3 for 2 offer at Dublin airport and I needed something to read on the way home from the Republic.
I am now endavouring to read all the Inspector Rebus books.
Black and Blue seems to be quite a long novel (compared with some of his other works) but do not let that put you off.
Rankin's style of writing is splendid. He combines a mixture of intellectual detective professionalism with elements of Rebus's past and the problems he faces as a person (relationships, excessive alcohol consumption and cigarette needs).
He also explores the dark-side of edinburgh - what goes on under the pleasant and often leafy-looking surface. Ian is also quite witty. Although the definite genre is CRIME it is in no means dreary.
Highly recommended to anyone that enjoys such a genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tiesto normally says it all, 9 Jun. 2004
This review is from: Magik 4: New Adventure (Audio CD)
I have had the Magik series (all but First Flight) for about 2 years now. I intend to review them all on Amazon. I am choosing to review "A New Adventure" first because it was the first one I obtained and probably the one I have listened the most to.
As a general note the CD is quite energetic and uplifting throughout. A very warm and enthusiastic introduction "Feel Me" by Darkstar. Followed by a more gentle "Northern Spirit" by Kamaya Painters. "The Ambush - Everlast" is a tune that grabbed my attention on this mix album. It is one of those tunes that does not have piercing synths or a dramatic breakdown (compared with the likes of "Delerium - Silence" and tracks by Airscape). Yet it oozes with originality and mysteriousness.
A scorcher on this album is certainly "Sean Dexter - Synthetica (Extended Mix)". Not only has Tiesto seamlessly mixed the entry and exit of this epic tune but he has also placed it at just the right point in the album. This tune is hooj, turn it up LOUD!Another gentler fella resides as "Your Own Reality" by Kai Tracid. Followed by a big stormer "Vimana - We Came" - this album is like a rollercoaster ride from start to finish. It is certainly an adventure...whether new or not.
It's also nice to know that Tiesto isn't all for himself in this game. He acknowledges an outstanding piece of work by another well respected DJ (Armin Van Buuren) by including "Communication", here in it's tranced up best.
The AWARD for best track on Magik 4 has to go to Loop Control. This is trance music of the highest calibre. The breakdown is exploding with energy, leaving you with shivers down ur spine and an immense feeling of happiness. It is "Exceptionally Beautiful"...
For those of you who already know what Trance music is about and are looking for another great album to add to your collection, do not hesitate to buy.
For those of you who have absolutely no idea what Trance is but are intelligent enough to want to find out, this is more than a good starting point. The quality of this CD stretches far out into infinity.
They say money can never buy you happiness. I beg to disagree...the problem is that most people don't spend it on the right things...

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding..., 16 Feb. 2004
This review is from: Gatecrasher Discotech (Audio CD)
DiscoTech was the very first Gatecrasher compilation I happened to purchase and is by far my favourite. There hasn't been a single Gatecrasher compilation that I haven't enjoyed, yet this one seems to really grab your emotions and tickle those musical buds.
The introduction to the compilation on CD 1 by Leftfield's "Afrika Shox" really does deviate from what the rest of the compilation is about. On first hearing it I wasn't so sure of it's successs, but after a couple of tries it really is good. It reminds me of some of the stuff that Fatboy Slim has produced. Gatecrasher is trying to set the scene with the vocals "Let's Get Electrified", which coincides really well with the design booklet.
The 2nd track "Up In Flames" really starts to develop the trance sound. The track forms a solid foundation for what is to come later, and so serves a useful purpose as a progression tool. Gatecrasher really has put a lot of thought and consideration into what the ingredients are to be in this compilation, and have certainly placed them in the correct order.
Bedrock's "Heaven Scent" is a truly energetic, uplifting and vibrant tune that deserves a huge amount of respect for the thousands of eager clubbers it has drawn onto the dancefloor. The undertones and other sound effects, combined with a steady, rivetting bass line created will keep the listener hooked.
The use of vocals is prevalent amongst the material in CD 1. They are particularly effective in Blue Amazon's "Coming Home" - a truly emotional piece of trance that brings back many happy memories for me every time I play it. This track, i find, compares quite nicely with DJ Tiesto's own wonderful production of "Sparkles" - another emotional, uplfting trancer of the same calibre.
A really beautiful track is "Save The Whales" by Silent Harmony. In this one the vocals are stripped and are instead replaced by the sound of whales, an effect that i happily recieved. The only downside to this track is that it is way too short - a 5 or 6 minute mix wouldnt go a miss!
Another vocalised track is "Love Shines Through" by Chakra. This is one of my all-time favourite tracks, it oozes melodic bliss.
A really energetic and vibrant tune is "L'Esperanza" by Airscape. This is one of the most UNIQUE tracks because it has a hold at the climax that has been known to send crowds into a surging state of euphoria.
CD 2 starts with the very apt "Barber's Adagio For Strings" - taken from "Platoon". Again, very emotional, repesenting the harsh realities of the Vietnam War, yet beautiful in both quality, structure and style. If you really like the version heard on this compilation then I suggest you check out the original by William Orbit.
Reviewing this compilation could not be complete without mentioning the input of Balearic Bill, creating the "Destination Sunshine". This tune really does represent the Ibiza scene. Whilst listening to the track you can almost feel yourself being there, partying with the island's people who are religious clubbers!
A truly magnificent piece of work, this compilation should be in the homes of any being that appreciates good music...

5.0 out of 5 stars Typical Gatecrasher material, 16 Feb. 2004
I bought this compilation about 2 years ago and still I derive an immense amount of satisfaction from hearing it every time i dig it out.
The quality of music is excellent throughout, with 90% of the tracks featured gaining a rightful place in my musical library. The tracks are characterised by smooth, accurate progressions and superb mixing skills that have always been prevalent amongst Gatecrasher releases.
There is very little commericial material on this compilation - an indication that a bit of thought and attention has been put into what a good trance album should contain.
"Papua New Guinea" by Future Sound of London was a good choice for introducing the first CD. This track is testimony that we brits always knew a thing or two about how to produce an excellent track!
Other highlights of CD 1 is Tenth Planet's "Ghosts", a track I haven't heard in ages, but have fond memories of it when it was first released. Moogwai, Apex, David Forbes are other really good productions that deserve a mention in this review.
Favourite track on CD 1: Beam & Yanou - The Free Fall.
I fell in love with this track the very first time that i heard it. The beautiful tune that can be vividly heard, accompanied with sexy, soft vocals make this an altogether wonderful piece.
CD 2 contains some material that I would describe as being more "energetic" - with the likes of Planisphere, Fire & Ice and of course the haunting appearance of "Voodoo" by Warrior.
In conclusion, this compilation is worth every penny that is to be spent on it. It contains a great mixture of tracks that were in the forefront of the trance scene around about the year 2001.
Even so, they are classics that will continue to be appreciated by real trance enthusiasts for many years to come. If you want to be part of the millions that endeavour to have this appreciation - I suggest you get ordering!

4.0 out of 5 stars Varied..., 10 Feb. 2004
This review is from: Nyana (Audio CD)
Another very good release by DJ Tiesto. I have to say though that I didn't quite fall in love with this compilation the first time I stuck it in my CD player. CD 1 is more of a slow start to the jounrey but once the cd has been played a couple of times the realisation is that Tiesto is simply easing you in for what is to come...
...that is what makes his work so special. He pays a considerable amount of thought and attention to how and where he is going to record his tracks. This way he can recreate the feeling of bliss he himself feels as the eager consumer pops the merchandise into the sound system! Tiesto has a completely unique style. He seems to combine all the best elements of trance into his work to create something uplifting, melodic and yet progessive. This CD is exemplar material of such a style.
CD 1 is slightly more vigorous with harder undertones. Quality vocals are characteristic throughout the entire compilation, for example Jan Johnston and Sinead O'Connor on Disk 1. The gabriel & Dresden Mix of Andain's "Beautiful Things" on CD 2 is well worth a mention - a track that leaves a feeling of warmth and content inside those who have the pleasure of listening to it.
If you are more of an Uplifting kind of person CD 2 will be ur focus. "Catcher - Destiny Sunrise" has the kind of haunting melody you will want to hear again and again. Tina Arena's contribution to The Roc Project's "Never" has been well receieved, another highly regarded track in tranceland at present. Othe rfavourite's are "POS - Remember (Summer Sun) and "Solid Globe - North Pole", placed conveniently to round-off a truly physically and psychologically addictive compilation.
Tiesto gives you the trance, the whole trance and nothing but trance - it's Class A - and MUST be bought.

5.0 out of 5 stars An examiner would grade this A*, 8 Feb. 2004
This is a collection of some of the most wonderful trance music ever produced. From beginning to end it an album that is energetic, uplifting, emotion heightening and, above all, erupting with quality.
The three CD's that come in this compilation together have defined what trance music really is for the clubbing elite. All 3 disks are equally is good due to the diverse content that is included in them.
I will, however, give you a taster of what it is about:
CD 1
We're looking at the 1999/millenium year here. The likes of ATB's "9PM - Till I Come", the emotional "Barber's Adagio For Strings" as featured in Platoon, the space-mystical "Gamemaster" and a truly uplifting beautiful production by Matt Darey providing us with a source of pure "Liberation".
The CD ends perfectly with Tiesto's much-appreciated intervention on Airscape's "L'Esperanza", a tune with one of the longest holds at climax I have ever had the pleasure of hearing.
CD 2
A wonderful introduction by Robert Miles. "Children" seems to ease the followers into the journey by providing a melody that is relaxed and melodic yet uplifting and energetic, creating a boundless enthusiasm to dance.
Another performance by Matt Darey "Beautiful". An oustanding piece of work that will stay in the hearts and minds of true clubbers across the land for years to come.
High quality vocals are characteristic of this disk with regards to Lost Witness "Happiness Happening", Agnelli & Nelson's "Love Shy" and the stunning remake by Kristine Blonde to produce "Love Shy". This tune I heard at my High School Prom and it was successful in mashing up the entire dancefloor!!
Way Out West's "The Gift" has to be one of my favourite tracks on the entire compilation. I first heard this song when I was about 10 and at a house party with my sister. I had only just started listening to house/trance music then (although my sister was in the middle of her clubbing era).
Even now the track still seems to create a feeling of peace and happyness around me when it is played. Very ambient tune.
CD 3
This is labelled as "Gone But Not Forgotten". These are the tunes that really did shape the clubbing experience into something special.
"Cafe Del Mar" should instantly come to mind when hearing such a title for a CD. And yes it is included - in its rightful place of honour.
There is something altogether unique about this track that will never be created again in the fullness of time. Other brilliant accompanying tunes are the Irish "Saltwater", a mesmorising piece by Clannad, "Age Of Love", Moonman's "Galaxia" and of course Signum's "What ya got 4 me".
Whether you are an avid trance fan wishing to remind yourself of some of the best trance ever made in the history of clubland or someone who is just wishing to give it a go - this compilation is worth every penny spent on it.
The amount of satisfaction you will derive from this product far exceeds the financial expense you will encounter in purchasing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Behind the Scenes of the World Famous DJ..., 5 Jan. 2004
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you've always wanted to know what your favourite international superstar DJ really gets up to then this is a good indication. "Another Day At The Office" gives a taste of how it is to be one of the most talented men in the Universe.
Complete with scenes from various shows that he has performed at we (the viewers) get the feel of how Tiesto creates a wonderful clubbing atmosphere not just by producing high quality music but also by watching him endeavour to be in tune with the crowd.
He is indeed very passionate about his music as he explains in a Los Angeles interview. He likes nothing best than to be able to mingle with the crowd and feel their energy. Tiesto feels each crowd he plays to each have a unique feel and want. It is his target to be able to feel their energy and respond in a way to make their evening something special.
The DVD truly offers an exclusive look at Tiesto on the road. He gets followed around the entire World, starting the summer 2002 right until the very end of the year.
High-profile parties such as Cream Ibiza, Bloemendaal, Impulz Outdoor, ID & T Innercity and several gigs from the North American Area2 tour have all been covered, just to wet your appetite!
Besides all his gigs, you also get to see an instore signing session. This is when we really understand the immense amoutn of passion that true Trance lovers feel for Tiesto and his music. It is amazing to see the sparkle that appear in people's eyes upon seeing Tiesto in the flesh and having their t-shirts and hats personally signed.
This DVD captures the magically special moments from start to finish and, if you like me have yet to see Tiesto live on stage then i suggest you certainly do consider buying this DVD - it will only succeed in making you jealous of the people starring on it, and 100% more determined to be part of the whole thing yourself!
