Wow. What a lovely, pleasant surprise. These earphones are amazing, especially at this price point.

The first thing that hit me on receiving these was the quality of the packaging. They come in a very Apple-esque box which, when opened, reveals a lovely little clamshell carry case, a fabric carry pouch (two carry cases — generous!), plus a dozen spare earbuds in various sizes, each one in its own little pre-cut hole. Opening the clamshell case, I found the earbuds, wrapped in a nifty little Velcro-style band. Really nice.

The earphones come, by default, with foam tips made from similar stuff to those little screw-up earplugs but, as stated above, there are a bunch of more traditional plastic buds as well. The multi-coloured cable is covered in transparent sheathing, which looks awesome. The jack and the metallic bits on the earbuds have a tungsten-like finish. I think they might be plastic but they look convincing and everything feels really high quality.

Sound quality is excellent, with the foam-tipped buds pushing the sound smoothly into my ears. Bass levels are good, highs are crisp enough and the mid-range packs plenty of punch. To my ears they sound as good or better than the Sennheisers and Sonys I have had in the past.

All in all, I'm extremely pleased with these earphones.

Absolutely useless. Fitted one of these to our Samsung washing machine. It seemed to make a difference at first, but now the water hammer is back just as bad as ever. It has made no difference whatsoever :(

3.0 out of 5 stars Hyper-fast. Arcadey. Unrealistic. Glitchy. Disappointing., 28 Oct. 2014

This review is from: FIFA 15 (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
FIFA has always been a love/hate thing. At times, playing the game has been pure bliss and I've found myself getting lost in it for hours on end. At other times, the game's obvious scripting, momentum system and ridiculous 'ping-pong' feel leave me wanting to smash my TV.

This year, more than any other, FIFA 15 on the XBOX 360 leaves a lot to be desired. Yes, they've finessed and polished a lot of stuff, but they've also spoiled a lot of things, not to mention a huge number of out-and-out bugs.

Here's a run-down...

The good:
- Better player faces
- Improved commentary
- More stadiums
- Better crowds
- Quicker, easier access to tactics
- A slicker-looking menu system
- The terribly, arcadey 'Assisted' control mode forced me to use (and come to enjoy) manual controls

The bad:
- Ridiculously overpowered sprinting/dribbling for certain players
- Laughable (i.e. near impossible) defending against certain players
- Ridiculously random shooting mechanics, particularly on 'Assisted'
- Way-too-precise 'Assisted' passing
- All of the above amounting to a comic-book, arcadey, unrealistic game, where players can sprint from the kick-off, dribble past every defender and score. And everyone has already learned that you

The ugly:
- An at-times-unusable, buggy 'Team Management' screen (all players gather off the top-left of the screen. Names shown as 'Undefined')
- The game getting stuck with the players and referee just standing around doing default animations at some set pieces
- Terribly slow/glitchy online mode, resulting in unplayable, laggy games
- No more 'Mutual Quit', so if you get stuck in a laggy game, tough luck.
- Online Seasons basically unusable because 99.9% of players use Assisted controls, resulting in the aforementioned hyper-fast, super unrealistic arcadey experience, and it's near impossible to find a 'Manual' game at anything except peak times.

I can only assume that EA has focussed heavily on the Next Gen consoles this year, and has also chosen to tweak the knobs in favour of a faster dribbling game, with the assisted controls lending a major hand to this.

So, if you've got a next-gen console and you're the kind of person who likes to drink 6 cans of Relentless caffeine drink, then bash buttons at random at the speed of light, this game might be for you. If you're on current-gen and/or you want anything remotely realistic, it might be time to switch back to PES. I think I will be.

Good product. Fits (very) snugly, requiring a fair bit of effort. The best product on the market for what it does. The overall solution is really very expensive for what it is, though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but ridiculously expensive for what it is, 18 July 2014
Really good product and does what it says on the tin, but it's obscenely expensive for what it is -- i.e. a couple of pieces of moulded plastic with a hole for a (not-included) cable. I use it every day so I'm getting value out of it, so I'm just knocking the one star off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 18 July 2014

This lightweight, slimline, classy-looking cover is really well-made and, although at the more expensive end of the price spectrum, it's really worth the cash (I paid £40). In terms of versatility, it obviously goes one step further than Apple's own smart cover, given that you can use it in 3 different orientations (landscape, portrait or typing). It takes a little while to get your head around the different 'origami' folds (really it's just a single action, but you can do it a couple of different ways), but once you're familiar with that, it's a lovely piece of kit and a really classy addition to the iPad.

Very pleased. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful., 17 Jan. 2014

OK. This has to be one of my best buys from Amazon. Very pleased.

- Unique-looking wooden casing.
- Made from reclaimed material. Makes me feel all eco-warriorish.
- Made in the UK (I think)
- Lovely braided string cable, rather than crappy plastic/rubber. Feels reassuringly high quality.
- Come in a nice little hessian bag.

And most importantly... outstanding sound quality. Probably the best earphones I've ever had in that respect.

My only slight disappointment is that mine are black, or very nearly so. I was really hoping that they'd be light brown and more obviously 'woody' (because I'm terribly vain and it would've been a great conversation piece). Still, it clearly says on the product that they come in a variety of colours and what you get is random.

Great product. Highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disgraceful, 31 July 2013

This book is laden with basic factual errors and total hogwash. It's simply the worst, trashiest, most ill-informed piece of junk I've ever read. The sad thing is that any useful shreds of factually-correct information are ruined by the glaring errors and the weird, bizarre way in which the book hops from science to wishy-washy mysticism. For example, the book claims that Ecstasy == Methamphetamine (wrong!), that "thalidomide children" were actually "extremely advanced souls" who "sacrificed themselves to teach their parents a lesson of responsibility" (hogwash!), and that the "Holy Spirit" strengthens the nervous system so it can "contain more power" (nonsense!).

I was hoping for an intelligent read on how one might reach higher levels of consciousness through meditation or other non-drug-related means. What I got was a badly written, factually-incorrect, misguided pile of rubbish.

I see the author is an ex drug addict. I think whatever he was on fried his brain :(

Avoid!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and cheerful, 15 Oct. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is an attractive-looking, cheap light switch. The metal casing is very, very flimsy, so much so that on tightening up the screws to fit, it's actually warped the faceplate of the switch. Admittedly it was a tight squeeze and I had to apply a little pressure, but I wouldn't have expected the metal to warp so easily.

Nonetheless, it's an attractive enough addition to any room, at a pretty good price.

PROS:
- Unbelievably amazing cleaning power
- Powerful turbo head, plus miniature version on the Animal model
- Size/weight are manageable for the power of the machine
- Good capacity dust bin
- Beautiful design
- 5-year warranty as standard

CONS:
- Material quality feels questionable given the cost
- The locking / unlocking mechanism for standing the vacuum upright feels particularly flimsy
- Emptying the bin can be trickier than one would hope
- Undeniably high price.

SUMMARY:
This is an outstanding piece of kit. Yes, it's expensive, and it's not without its flaws, but for sheer cleaning power it's truly sensational.
