WWE All Stars - Million Dollar Pack (Xbox 360)
WWE All Stars - Million Dollar Pack (Xbox 360)

2.0 out of 5 stars Another missed opportunity..., 12 May 2011
When i first heard about 'All-Stars' i liked the look of the game but didn't hold my breath..good job i didn't either because i'd be dead now.
I really hoped THQ would release a game similar to WWF "WWE" WrestleFest (my favourite arcade game in the early 90's) and as Legends Of Wrestlemania wasn't good enough it just adds the the sheer disappointment of WWE All-Stars.

First things first.. the style of the game is great, the ott nature of it all is cool..like playing with the Hasbro figures as a kid. The fighting style is similar to old school fighting games, and this is where the good things about this game end.
Multiplayer is the only way you're going to get any real enjoyment out of it..if you're a single gamer and have no mates then don't waste your time or money with this.. get Super Street Fighter IV, Mortal Kombat or SVR 2011.
Playing with mates either online or on the couch is recommended..Xbox live is hit and miss,if playing strangers.

The main problems with this is that there just isn't enough wrestlers (although THQ are releasing loads via DLC..yeah,cheers for that).
There is also just not enough to do in the game either..sure there is 'Path Of Champions' but it's just not a proper arcade mode.. no championships to be won, no royal rumble options, survivor series ect.. game modes are of the bare minimum variety.
Besides the options, the other big problem is that the AI is appalling.. seriously, it's a mess. Unfair CPU advantage no matter what difficulty you select.
There are also a number of glitches and bugs i have come across but they'll no doubt be fixed in an update.

It's a shame, a game that starts off quite decent is almost totally destroyed by poor programming and very slim options and game modes.
Consider renting this first or looking for it on the cheap, it doesn't warrant the full asking price

3.0 out of 5 stars Teyarch fail again.., 9 May 2011
One sentence sums this game up: "Most over-hyped game of all time (Even more than Halo..)"

I have to get this out of the way first.. COD: Black Ops, released in 2010 is an inferior game to Call Of Duty 2, released in 2005...
How?..
The whole mess of the Activision/Treyarch/Infinity Ward saga is slowly destroying this great gaming franchise and that's a real shame.

When you first load up Black Ops it tricks you into thinking you're about to play a truly great game...Big production values, excellent voice cast (including Ice Cube and Sam Worthington) and some decent presentation work. The main problem is that you can instantly tell that this is a Treyarch 'COD', saying that though this game is much better than Treyarch's other Call Of Duty games, the graphics are beautiful and there are some nice set-pieces but sadly that's where it ends for me.. the story is incredibly boring and i just can't play more than 1 or 2 missions at any one time..unlike COD4 which i played solidly.
Online is where the game lives up to it's hype, but you're seriously better off setting up an Xbox live party with your mates rather than taking strangers on as COD players are more infamous than those found playing Halo 2 on the original Xbox.

The zombie bonus game is a nice addition but feels a little awkward and 'tacked-on'. If you want a zombie shooter then look no further than Left For Dead.
On the whole it's not the worst game ever or the worst Call Of Duty, it's just so average and cannot be compared to any of Infinity Ward's games.
This is proof now that Activision needs to stop being greedy and more importantly..Treyarch needs to leave it alone and make anything else that isn't Call Of Duty.

Conan (Xbox 360)

3.0 out of 5 stars Krom!, 19 Feb. 2011
This review is from: Conan (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Conan is rather a little jem and way over-looked and that's a shame.
Much better than similar games also available on 360 such as 'Viking' and 'Golden Axe: Beast Rider'.
There is something about this game that feels right and is very enjoyable as other reviewers have mentioned.
The graphics are more than good enough and there is enough story and character upgrades to keep you playing.
Conan is a typical hack 'n slash game, lots of violence and blood..also some hidden naked maidens that require freeing from their shackles.
There are a few little niggles which sadly mark the game down and that's the occassional dumb platform sections and a few tedious boss battles and the general tedium of the action, but that's what a hack and slasher does and Conan is very respectable. On the whole it is a good game that can be found for next to no money.
Deffinatley recommend to old school gamers who like this type of game.

4.0 out of 5 stars 80% Syncronization, 19 Feb. 2011
Not reviewed anything in a while, so thought i'd give the 'creed a review.

There is a lot of mixed opinions on this game.."overated', 'underated', 'annoying', 'frustrating' ect ect..
Personally i really enjoyed playing this, i got it on PS3 and played solidly through the whole thing. I have since re-bought it for my 360 and have started again.
The first thing that struck me was how good the game still looks, sure it's been bettered by the 2 sequels but considering all other early 360 games look so dated now,it's quite amazing.
There are a few problems with Assassin's Creed, namely the fact that it takes it's self a little too serious, the story however is very good and as long as you give yourself time to get into it you will find it easy to immerse yourself in the world.
Another big concern is the repetitiveness of the gameplay. Each mission is basically the same, having to peform a routine to progress to the end boss.

However my tip is to set all this aside..get yourself a walkthrough guide (as it's easy to get lost or not know where to go as you travel from city to city) be patient and take the time to get to grips with the controls.
I played through the game and forgot about the games slight annoyances because the story is so rich.
It'll also set you up nicely for Assassin's Creed II.

1.0 out of 5 stars What?, 3 April 2006
This review is from: Ring (1998) [DVD] [2000] (DVD)
Well, what can i say?..."Scariest movie ever made","do not watch it alone","will scare you beyond your imagination"?..well,no because it isn't and it won't.
The film itself is fairly well made and does have a dark atmosphere about it,but it really isn't scary in the slightest.
Now,i am a wuss when it comes to watching supernatural and psychological horror films, but i can quite happily watch this alone in the dark without fear of nightmares :)
Also the DVD is shockingly badly produced, the picture looks like it was transfered from the VHS film and the subtitles are unreadable at the best of times...i hate to say this because i am a fan of Japanese/Asian film, but really the U.S re-make is a much better film. But if you are looking for top quailty j-horror then you should check out 'Ju-On The Grudge' or the recently released 'Pulse',other good alternatives are 'The Eye','Tale Of Two Sisters' and 'Acacia' these are more worthy of your time and money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Is this a joke?, 15 Feb. 2006
This review is from: GUN (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Well,how do I start?
I just don't see how the average rating for this game is '5 stars'.This is by far one of the pointless 360 launch games, along with Need For Speed and Tiger Woods 06.
Why am I being so harsh?... well this is exactly the same as the version released on Xbox and PS2!!! This is an Xbox 360 we're talking about here!!
Absolutely no effort has been made to update the game at all,
sure there is some minor spit-shine added to the graphics, but seriously if you put the 2 versions side-by-side you couldn't tell the difference, this 360 version is basically the original Xbox game in high-def.
The game itself is actually quite good,if a little too short and was a highlight of 2005,but with the RRP at £49.99 you really should just consider getting the Xbox version for around £20,because this is all this game really is.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real contender for Resident Evil's throne., 11 Feb. 2006
This review is from: Condemned (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
I got 3 games at the time i purchased my 360,and condemned was one of those 3.
At first, when all the preview videos were being released for the 360 i was a little sceptical about this title,i am a huge Resident Evil fan and obviously saw Condemned as yet another pretender....man,was i wrong!!!
For me,this is the best of the launch titles along with Call Of Duty 2 & Kameo.
The first thing that will hit you when you load this beauty for the first time are the incredible graphics and the intense atmosphere that sucks you in.
The gameplay, although is more like an FPS,borrows alot of its 'scares' and 'pant-filling' jumps from Resident Evil series mixed with a few of the developers favourite movies...so the best way to describe Condemned is to say it is a FPS Resident Evil game, mixed with story elements and atmostphere from 'Seven' and enemies from '28 Days Later',and it all works brilliantly.
The enemy AI is nothing short of genius,if they see you coming they'll either charge at you in full force, hide or run away.
A group of enemies will also talk to each other and prepare for an ambush. The best thing however,is that they will actually run off to find a more powerful weapon,ie: if you have a crowbar and they have a stick, they will search for a large pipe or even a fire-arm.
So overall, this game is well worth a look and i'm confident you will not be dissapointed!!

Dead or Alive 4 (Xbox 360)

3.0 out of 5 stars So near,yet so far., 9 Feb. 2006
First of all,i have to start this little review by saying i am not a huge 3D Beat 'em up fan...i never have been, with the exeption of the Soul Blade/Calibur and Rival Schools games.
My fighting heart will always lie with Capcom and SNK's titles.
Most 3D fighting games just don't work well enough and sadly Dead Or Alive 4 proves this fact.
I remember playing the first DOA game on the Playstation and Sega Saturn, and at the time is was probably the best of the genre it most deffinatly better than the lame Tekkan series, until Namco released Soul Blade and later Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast and for me,DOA was a distant memory.
Now we are back with Tecmo's DOA again on a brand new shiny machine to continue where the pointless DOA Ultimate left off.
First of all i need to get the graphics out of the way...they truly are beautiful, although i doubt this game even scratches the surface on what the 360 can actually do.
The selection of characters on offer include the usual mix of familiar fighters including the over-rated Kasumi, the Bruce Lee wannabe Jann-Lee,there are a few new additions including my personal fave,Kokoro.
Secret characters are also included, including GenFu,Ein and a Spartan soldier from Halo.
Alot of the characters feel incredibly samey and more attention seems to have gone into the female characters than the males.
The combat system is flawed at the best of times, sure,it moves nicely and is wonderfully animated, but just doesn't feel right, for a start the counter system is a very hit-and-miss affair and the blocking is unreliable. This is where things get frustrating in the single player mode, the CPU AI is all over the place, you'll fight once and win quite easily then next you'll be repeating the same fight over and over again because the CPU characters seem to counter over 80% of your moves then just juggle combo you to death...it's extremely annoying and will result in harsh words being shouted at your TV!!
And finally, there is the last boss..Alpha-152,i have to say this is the cheapest, cheesiest boss since M.Bison on Street Fighter II
and because DOA 4 DOES NOT have any easy or novice difficulty options,it just makes it too hard and almost ruins the whole game.
The Xbox Live options are similar the DOA Ultimate, good for a while untill the lag kicks in,although the lobby and shop additions are welcomed.
So on the whole, this is a game i would recommend for a night in with your mates,i also suggest you try and purchase this second hand,it's just not worth £45-50.

5.0 out of 5 stars Triple Takedown!!, 16 Sept. 2005
This review is from: Burnout Legends (PSP) (Video Game)
I waited for the release of BL for a long time,it was one of the main reasons i decided to buy my PSP,so on launch day (today) i went to my local store and bought myself a copy.
And i can honestly say that it didn't dissapoint.
The intro and menu are similar to last years Burnout 3:Takedown and the usual selection of cars, from the weedy compact class to the sports and super classes. So all of you that used the Super Assassin will be pleased to see their baby included in this version. As soon as the game loads (some of the fasted loading screens on the PSP) it is clear that this is special.
The frame-rate and sense of speed is unreal,so those that were dissapointed with MC3 Dub Edition will breath a sigh of relief.
Overall the game is basically Burnout 3 with bits from the first 2 games mixed in,and it's awesome!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best so far, 14 May 2005

The Lightning Seeds return with 1996's 'Pure'. Following on from the success of 'Jollification'.
This however,is definatley the best collection of 'seeds songs to date.
From the opener 'The Life Of Riley' which is probably the bands best known song alongside 'Lucky You' through other highlights 'Sense' , Sweet Dreams' , 'All I Want' , 'Joy' , 'The Price' and of course the album title song 'Pure' this really is indie-pop at it's absolute best!
18 songs in total make up the album, and for less than £2 from most Amazon sellers,it really shouldn't be missed.
If you enjoyed Jollification, and love catchy pop tunes you'll love it...trust me.
