5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Hilarious Debut An Absolute Corker & Must Read, 18 May 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I rarely read this genre of book as I tend to be more of a crime mystery thriller type. I actually took it on holiday to spain with me a week or two ago. I have to say from the beginning to end it had me in stitches. Mr Avery has written an absolutely hilarious novel here. I was laughing so loudly that fellow holiday makers were questioning my sanity and discreetly moving their sunbeds further away from me by the hotel pool. Without giving too much of the plot away if you like to read rib cracking adventures about the most unsuccessful writers ever, then Arthur Deadman is your man.
This is a brilliantly clever book that I would love to see made into a film, anyone from hollywood reading this !!! .There is even a love interest to keep things moving along. Ian Avery I wish to thank you for writing one of the most original and funniest books I've read in ages. To think this is a debut novel, I do so hope that there are many more in the pipeline, if not I'll just have to read it all over again and again.

Commoners Crown
Commoners Crown

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Steeleye Span - A Must Have Release, 11 Nov. 2009
This review is from: Commoners Crown (Audio CD)
Having first heard this album on a mate's radiogram, that give's away the age of this wonderful album.
Commoner's Crown has 7 traditional tunes arranged by the band with 2 group compositions, all of which are delivered to the highest standard by these talented folk rockers. The subject matter of the songs is varied and often dark with Murder and Demons being the subject matter along with Ferrets and Ladies who take you to the cleaners, after getting you drunk !
To add to the mayhem a very talented ukelele player by the name of Peter Sellers helps out on New York Girls.
It's a shame, Sellers never made more recordings like this and decided to pursue his career making moving pictures, as it will be obvious to the discerning listener , that he clearly had a rare talent and would have given
St Winifreds School Choir a good run for their money in those days.
The BGO CD is expertly mastered but is now quite hard to get hold of, so basically if you you see it grab it, you won't be disappointed. After all There's No-one Quite Like Grandma ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Still None The Wiser, 8 Dec. 2008
This review is from: Led Zeppelin (Shm) (Audio CD)
I think something is very wrong here. I have emailed & rang Amazon a number of times about this.Complete Studio Recordings
The Amazon Picture shows the cover of Led Zeppelin 1.
The number of discs is shown as just 1.
If the number of discs should be 10 then Amazon really have got a 1 der ful product here. Every Classic Studio track that has to date seen the light of day officially from Messrs Page,Plant,Jones & Bonham.
However if it is 1 disc and the cover shown by Amazon is correct and remains the same as LZ1 , then I am really Dazed and Confuzed !!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Moggy Music and Tails From Tull Genius !!!!, 31 Aug. 2003
This review is from: Rupi's Dance (Audio CD)
Well here we are again with another solo offering from Jethro Tull's mainman. So, Who is Rupi ? No , not his mum, his wife or daughter , yes you guessed it , it's his Cat. Although You would be forgiven for thinking with a title about his moggy friend , this CD could be a tad dissapointing. But, you'd be totally wrong, Rupi's Dance is by far Anderson's best Solo effort yet.
Caliandra Shadel (The Cappucino Song) is an uptempo flute driven masterpiece filled with twisting lyrics that only Anderson can deliver.More animals appear under the guise of 'A Raft of Penguins ' & 'Pigeon Flying Over Berlin Zoo ' tracks that illustrate what a brilliant flute player, Ian is.
Buy This album , all the tracks on this album are excellent and prove Mr Anderson to be an outstanding artist bursting with originality and ofcourse 9 Lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking Release From Mr Cool Jazz, 16 Jan. 2001
This review is from: Breezin' (Audio CD)
In January 1976,Mr Benson entered Capitol Records,Hollywood and recorded over a period of 3 days together with equally talented musicians what many regard as his finest album. To add to this classic, a full orchestra was used arranged and conducted by the infamous Claus Ogerman.Six beautiful songs resulted.Three composed by George & his fellow band members and three covers. The title track composed by Bobby Womack,Leon Russell's This Masquerade and the awesome Jose Feliciano's Affirmation. It seemed wherever You went in the mid seventies, somebody was playing this record such was the quality of the music.I infact first heard it in Greece in 1977. Recorded all those years ago but still sounding as if he recorded it yesterday. If there is one George Benson album to have in your collection this Special Edition is the one.Never again was Jazz's Mr Cool so Chilled out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Certain to Cause An Avalanche, 18 Sept. 2000
This review is from: Super Hits (Audio CD)
Formed in 1969,Mountain were led by the colossal talents of Leslie West,a rather large chap himself. This budget priced compact disc serves as an excellent introduction to the uninitiated. From the opening track Mississipi Queen, one of their biggest stateside hits, this disc truely rocks with a capital R .There is superb cover of Theme From An Imaginary Western,a Jack Bruce number, which so impressed him that he later joined the band , remember (West,Bruce & Laing). The Collection also includes Nantucket Sleighride, a wonderful rock ballad that many will recall was used as the theme to ITV's current affairs programme The World At One. Super Hits contains ten of the best tracks from Mountain's back catalogue .Go on treat youself, give it a listen but beware Mountain are certain to cause an avalanche.
