5.0 out of 5 stars First rate, 16 Dec. 2007
So refreshing to finally find a book about pool written by someone who not only comes across as being really knowledgeable about the game but who also knows how to write about it in an engaging style.

An amazing amount of material is included both on how to play the game and the history of cue sports. I particularly enjoyed reading the chapter on how to win which contains some interesting stuff on the psychology of sport which I had not come across before.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and cheerful, 16 Dec. 2007
This has the feeling of a bit of a bargain basement book. Whilst the plot isn't bad and in places it's fairly well written the overall package just isn't that compelling and I'm not sure I'd be keen to recommend it to friends.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not perfect, 16 Dec. 2007
An interesting book about a phenomenal driver. Obviously there's only so much you can say about someone so young, but I enjoyed reading about his life so far and it is a genuinely inspirational story.

I do agree with other reviewers though that at times things are dealt with in somewhat superficial detail and you do get the feeling that the book was rushed out to capitalise on this season's success when there was the potential to go into things a bit more fully.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tells it like it is, 16 Dec. 2007
I loved the first of Clarkson's books and this is almost as good. As with his on screen persona he doesn't pull any punches and the plain speaking makes for a great read.

The style of the book makes it ideal for dipping in and out of and it's a perfect book to read on journeys when you don't have time to get into something longer.
