5.0 out of 5 stars I am lightning.. The rain transformed., 22 Feb. 2013
Metal Gear Rising turned out to be everything I wanted and more. As a fan of the Metal Gear series I had my doubts as to whether anyone but Kojima Productions could really handle an entry in the series but after seeing the first beta gameplay videos.. let's just say I'm glad they handed it over to Platinum Games. They've done more than justice to the franchise, they've allowed people to play Raiden exactly as they wanted, exactly how they saw him fight in MGS4's cutscenes. An extremely agile cyborg ninja that is more than capable of fighting large groups of enemies (once you figure out the parry and dodge techniques) and he controls exquisitely, you feel like a super hero when playing.

The story is spot on, too. It's a good thing that they moved it from in between the second and fourth games to after the fourth because it's given them so much more creative freedom, not to mention how they can get away with all the visceral gore because everyone you kill is either a robot or an evil cyborg and not "really" human. The nuances are all there, the in-jokes, the subtleties, even the same patterns of story progression. If you're as much of a fan of Metal Gear as I am, you'll notice these within the first hour of gameplay.

So it's all there. It's Metal Gear, but taken in a new and refreshing direction. The stealth isn't all gone mind you, that's taken over by the brilliantly adorable Dwarf Gekko units. Kojima should be proud, Platinum Games have done fantastically well and I hope it sells enough to fund a sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lightning Fast - Whisper Quiet, 3 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've been using this laptop for a few months now, as a replacement for my old desktop.

So far it's been fantastic. Boots fast, runs stable and cool. Handles all of my games just fine and can render video files extremely fast with it's i7 processor and GT635M graphics card combo. For example, I can run Grand Theft Auto IV, a notoriously difficult game for computers to handle, at a steady 40-60fps on High settings. When the laptop is under regular strain from browsing websites and the like, the fan is very quiet but keeps everything nice and cool. It only spins up when a demanding game needs the extra power or a large video is rendering and even then it's not as loud as others.

No complaints about the design, I have an external mouse and keyboard plugged in so I never have to use the touchpad or built in keyboard but they seem pretty standard. Good build quality. The speakers are amazing too, with the tiny extra subwoofer plugged in, it can rival some low to mid range wattage external PC speakers.

The Bluetooth comes in handy for using gamepads and the USB 3.0 is great for external hard drives and memory sticks. Built-in webcam is decent quality with the ability to handle low-light scenes quite well. Blu-Ray drive doesn't support playing films due to an incompatibility with the Nvidia drivers, but that's an issue that's being fixed for the next update. Everything else is what you'd expect from using a laptop. Lots of space saved and obviously great for portability.

3.0 out of 5 stars Port Issues (Compatibility), 3 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These are unfortunately the Rockstar Games re-releases that are currently available free of charge from their official website. This means they are the same versions currently offered on Valve's Steam store and have game breaking bugs.

GTA1 will only launch once and has incorrectly played music in certain vehicles, eventually the music stops playing altogether.
GTA London has not been upgraded and therefore just doesn't work under modern Windows.
GTA2 works fine. No problems at all. Fortunately, this is the game that Rockstar paid most attention to.

Although there are potential fixes for these games available around various websites on the Internet, they do not bring them up to a fully playable standard. You'd be better off finding the older, original PC releases (such as the Sold Out range) and running them with a 3DFX enabled version of DOSBox, an MSDOS emulator.

The games themselves are brilliant. A lot of fun if you can look past the simplistic gameplay.

Sony MDRXB500 Extra Bass Headphones with Large 40mm Driver Unit

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Sound, Short Cable, 15 Nov. 2011
Make no mistake that these headphones are made purely for bass. It overpowers everything, drums sound like they're punching through your head. Exactly what I wanted, the only downside is the short cable, it's around 1 metre which just about reaches to my computer but I'm going to need to buy a 3.5mm jack extension cable.
