4.0 out of 5 stars Scratched Enclosure - Update, 5 Jun. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As others have reported, the rubberised enclosure of my brand new speaker is covered in scratches and marks. The retail box was sealed and is labelled new and so the speaker has clearly left the factory in this condition. I am not sure if this is just poor QA, or if Anker has used the one-day special deal to shift some of their "seconds". Amazon have said they will investigate and I wait to hear back from them. The sound itself is fine, although a little lacking in bass for my taste. The unit has some strange volume limiting processing or compression artifact which is revealed during bass drum kicks on some music. This variable volume issue can be heard on some YouTube reviews; clavinetjunkie has a great video which demonstrates it very well.

UPDATE - Anker customer services reached out to me and sent me a new speaker. The new speaker does still have some small scratches and marks on the rubber enclosure but not as bad as the first one. I suspect this is a handling issue during the manufacturing process as the rubber finish is prone to marking. Customer services were very helpful though and offered me a number of options to ensure this was resolved to my satisfaction.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent HTPC video card, 19 May 2017
Although this is a little expensive for a relatively low performance card, it is an excellent HTPC video card. The Pascal architecture includes Nvidia's PureVideo 8 which means it has all the features required for a modern HTPC; 4K, 8K, HEVC, HDR, DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0b and HDCP 2.2. The low profile, passively cooled design is completely silent and runs with a TDP of just 30W. The capacitors are rated to last for 10 years at full load and so promise great longevity. The card come complete with both a full height and low profile bracket for compatibility with both form factors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius Compact Design, 27 Feb. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a genius design, absolutely perfect for travel. The charger is compatible with a huge range of battery sizes and chemistry types; Li-ion/IMR/INR/ICR/NiMH/NiCd. Charging is fully automatic and completely foolproof with auto-sensing for polarity and shorted connection. Charge times can be a little slow for certain battery types, but that is forgiven due to the flexibility offered from such a compact package. Worthy of inclusion in every gadget bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars No different from the Nitecore D4, 13 Feb. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Firstly I should say that I ordered the D4 EU 2016 model from Amazon but actually received the regular D4 model. I was a little concerned and so emailed Nitecore about the two models. They said there are no differences, it is just different packaging for a different production run. The scratch off serial number confirms that this is a genuine new product on the Nitecore website.

Two of the best chargers on the market at the moment are the Nitecore D4 and the Xtar VC4. If you buy either you will have a great charger. On balance, I prefer the D4 for the extra battery types it supports, the clearer display and the fact that it uses a standard mains power connection.

Purchased as a gift which went down really well. The herringbone fabric looks smart and the bean bag design works surprisingly well on uneven surfaces such as a bed or your knees.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great keyboard marred by garish colour wave effect, 31 Jan. 2017
Over the years, I have owned a variety of mechanical keyboards featuring a number of different switch types based on the Cherry MX design. Whilst Cherry switches are undoubtedly tried and tested, and well loved, they were never really designed to have backlighting. The fundamental problem with the Cherry switch design is the centre post which compromises the position of LED. The backlight LED has to be positioned at the top of the switch, resulting in offset legends and light spill (often marketed as exposed lighting).

So, I was very impressed when I saw the backlighting on the Logitech G810 with its purpose designed Romer-G switches. The centre focused illumination on the Logitech keys looks much sharper and brighter. Legends are centralised and clearly illuminated with minimal light spill beyond the key cap, which gives the keyboard a much more sophisticated look to my eyes.

The Romer-G switches have a similar feel to Cherry MX Red switches although they have a shorter actuation point and therefore shorter overall travel distance. When typing, the keys are generally quieter than Cherry Reds, however you can hear a little spring resonance. This is most noticeable if you give the keys a quick sharp stab. The keyboard body has a clean, minimal design with all the functionality you need and none of the “gamer” styling you don’t.

I believe Logitech have improved the companion application, Logitech Gaming Software (LGS), quite a bit in recent months and for the most part it works well. However, it has one idiotic function which really interferes with the operation of the G810. Whenever you exit and close LGS, it switches the keyboard back into the garish colour wave effect. This is not the keyboard returning to a default, but the LGS software actively changing the lighting settings of the keyboard to this effect. This means that when you log out of Windows, the keyboard immediately switches to the colour wave effect. This effect remains whilst Windows shuts down and also returns when you next switch on. Your custom lighting configuration does not return until you log back in and LGS reloads. The crazy thing is if you force terminate LGS, rather than let it close normally, then your current lighting configuration is left unchanged and you never see the garish colour wave effect, even after a power cycle. This really makes no sense to me and mars an otherwise great product. Hopefully Logitech will fix the software so it no longer behaves in this undesirable way.

4.0 out of 5 stars The bag you searched hard for, 31 Jan. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Firstly, congratulations for finding this product listing! If you just generally search Amazon UK for small shoulder bags this doesn’t appear – possibly because these words do not appear in the main title. If you specifically search for Bolstr then Amazon auto corrects this to bolster so you get a list of chisels and pillows!

The colour I ordered and received was Black/Foliage. The Amazon listing does not make a good job of picturing this colour option. Most of the photos are of the Black/Grey and Black/Green (Kickstarter) version. The Foliage colour lies somewhere in-between these. It is mostly grey with a slight hint of pale green (see attached photo).

The bag itself is well made with strong durable materials and the quality of finish is good. The fleece-lined, secure rear pocket is ideal for carrying a phone without a case. The shoulder strap is narrower than I prefer, but I knew this was the case. I will use the bag for period with this strap before deciding if I will swap the strap for a wider alternative.

Overall the bag is possibly a bit pricey, especially given the lightweight strap. However, it has great design elements and is quite unique in the marketplace. Making it almost the perfect EDC bag.

UPDATE: I decided the strap was just too thin and ribbon-like for my liking and so replaced it with a Tom Bihn Simple Shoulder Strap. I feel the wider strap and thicker material of the TB are a better match for this bag.

TIP: The Bolstr doesn't have any organisational loops for small items. However the Maxpedition Micro Pocket Organizer fits perfectly into the front pocket on the Bolstr. I actually prefer having drop-in organisation as it is then easier to move your kit from one bag to another when required.
