Nice case. I like the fact that you've got two angles to work with- a flatter one for drawing/ working on a desk and a more laptop- like one for watching films/ browsing etc. Cutouts in all the right places. It is a bit of a tight fit and the first time I tried to take my iPad out I honestly thought it would never come out but it did, and it's been a bit easier to remove it since then. That said, the fit is very neat- claps on firmly. The magnetic flap is nice, too. Over time the case has become a bit worn, but I suspect the black one would wear more gracefully.

4.0 out of 5 stars These are indeed good quality colour pencils, 5 May 2016

These are indeed good quality colour pencils. Their reputation in the art world speaks for itself. Faber Castell for me are the kings of wooden pencils- their 9000 series as well as the Polychromos are of the best quality. I do wish I had gotten the larger set of 36 as it's quite time- consuming (but entirely possible) to blend new colours, and this set of 24 lacks a purple, flesh tones, and some important shades of blue and green. Nevertheless the basic shades are all there, and they are a joy to use- very smooth but tactile enough to give some feedback. The tin that they come in is gorgeous as well, the packaging oozes quality and you do get what you pay for.

I just wish their colour selection wasn't designed to make you want to upgrade to the larger set, since they could have quite easily replaced one or two of the colours in the set with more useful ones. You can buy them individually but it's added expense...

Great earplugs. They dim background noise significantly but you can still hear the phone alarm go off. Good if you have noisy flatmates/ neighbors.

What can you say about a sharpener? Metal sharpeners in general are of a very high quality and will last years, and Steadtler make good ones. Pretty basic equipment for everyone really.

Whether or not one agrees with Dickens's views on America, it's difficult to deny that his writing style is- probably unintentionally- quite funny. A good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good bag, lots of space, 5 May 2016

Good bag, lots of space, love the organization of the inner pockets and compartments, takes my 13 inch laptop well. Seems to be sturdy and tough, comfortable to wear even when packed, and all the little things such as the padded straps and excellent quality zips go a long way in making this hassle free. Worth the price.

These are good pencils, a bit thick- so have a suitable sharpener at hand. The double holed metal ones should do fine. They preform reasonably well on good paper, although they might be a bit too waxy for smoother, non cartridge paper. The white pencil gives good highlights on toned paper- a decent option to go with brown-papered sketchbooks like the Daler Rowney Earthbound. The selection of colours is nice, although to be honest if you're just going for the earthy/ sepia palette then the smaller tin of 6 is great. The pencil leads haven't snapped in my use, although they seem a bit fragile- like the could if I didn't sharpen them very carefully.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice sketchbook, 21 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A bit expensive, but the paper quality is very good- not too thick or thin, with an extremely fine texture. It's thinner and smoother than cartridge paper but sturdier than regular printer paper. Smooth enough to draw on with a thin mechanical pencil or fineliner. I mainly bought it for the fact that it's recycled and that it's toned- excellent for sketching and drawing with dramatic highlights. My fountain and brush pens don't feather at all on the page, lines are crisp, and white ink highlights stand out really well. However white coloured pencil doesn't really come out that opaque no matter how many layers or how much pressure i use (I've tried polychromos and steadtler aquarell). Hopefully a white chalk pencil will fix this. Otherwise this is a lovely sketchbook.

Just to clarify, this is the Kuretake No. 13 brush pen- glossy metal body, actual synthetic bristles. It's quite expensive elsewhere, so worth ordering in advance from Amazon and waiting a few more weeks to ship from japan if you're keen to save money. As for the brush pen itself, it's gorgeous. This is my second one as I lost my first, so I knew what to expect and it didn't disappoint. If you have used the Pentel pocket brush pen before, you will know what to expect, but this one produces finer, crisper lines which are easier to control- the bristles are just slightly springier/ snappier so it becomes ever so slightly easier to control when going from thick to thin lines or doing long strokes. I prefer the Pentel for loose sketching, but for smaller, finer and more precision work the Kuretake is better. Also, it's worth mentioning that this pen takes waterproof Platinum carbon ink cartridges so it goes very well for clean, jet black line work to go with watercolours or water-based brush pens such as the Kuretake Zig clean colour ones. I personally use this, and a few of the Zig grey brush pens so that I have a range of tonal variation while sketching in airplanes, in class, etc. The general consensus seems to be that brush pens have a steep learning curve but that's not the case if you're willing to put in a good couple of hours getting the hang of it- and once you do, it's very hard to go back to the fake foam or felt tipped 'brush' pens.
