I ordered this book because of the introduction and I hadn't read the previous poor review. I agree the writing is style is at times irritating and the character of Brady is poorly drawn. The opening scene with the women with the tongue cut out seems completely pointless there would be many other better ways of drawing you into the book. The incident serves only to give a dimension to the plot which is clumsily done. The whole plot is shaky but better than the first book. In saying all of that I still read it to the end and it improved towards the end. A book for reading around a pool or on a train journey when you don't want to be too challenged.
