Spirit Dancing
Spirit Dancing
Price: £14.24

4.0 out of 5 stars Fingerstyle dulcimer, guitar and vocals..., 11 Aug. 2014

Dan Evans is an uber-talented Brit who aside of creating some really lovely music, is a top-notch photographer as well. The care and crafting of both creative urges is really one - the sound.....and the pictures. Dan also has a lovely singing voice, with that special British timbre that you hear often with British singers - smooth and expressive. Dan's playing style on both the appalachian (fretted) dulcimer and guitar is tasteful, elegent and artistic. The dulcimer playing of Dan Evans shows that the lowly little mountain instrument is fully ready to be used in lush arrangements, showing it's simple power and beauty.

Dan Evans - Let It Be Me
English Fingerstyle Dulcimer & Guitar

Dan Evans is an uber-talented Brit who aside of creating some really lovely music is a top-notch photographer as well. The care and crafting of both creative urges is really one - the sound.....and the pictures. Dan also has a lovely singing voice, with that special British timbre that you hear often with British singers - smooth and expressive. Dan's playing style on both the appalachian (fretted) dulcimer and guitar can actually be seen in the cover photo....elegant and artistic. 'Let It Be Me' is his third album on his own label, and is full of some lovely arrangements of a combination of British, Irish and American folk songs, along with some covers. His vocals on his arrangements of the title track 'Let It Be M'e, and 'The Rose' are not to be missed.

The dulcimer playing of Dan Evans shows that the lowly little mountain instrument is fully ready to be used in lush arrangements, showing it's simple power and beauty.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This!, 19 Feb. 2013
This review is from: Child Ballads (Audio CD)
I had not heard of Anais Mitchell and Jefferson Hamer before....and was instantly and totally enthralled with their treatment of this aged and exalted music. Their take is reverential, yet very personal, singing each old ballad with warmth and respect, yet feeling free enough to make it their own. With this fresh, light touch, they make these good old songs sound like they've just been penned. Their voices blend well together, and the lovely guitar work sets the perfect stage for the voices to shine. Truly, I can't stop listening to it - and already feel that this release will be my favorite of 2013.
