3.0 out of 5 stars Polished Update from Version 4, 5 Mar. 2012
This review is from: Soul Calibur V (PS3) (Video Game)
Once again an excellent Beat 'em Up game from a long running outstanding game brand.
Actually SC5 is mostly a slightly updated and much more polished version of SC4.
Everything is well done, the game mechanics are outstanding once again, slightly updated
character roster, once again the cool character customization feature.
Yet once again #5 does not reactivate those extensive Single Player Campaign features
as we've seen with SC2 and SC3 on the PS2. The single player campaign, while not really bad
is only a linear chain of diverse battles with no choices to make and a few not further
noteworthy cutscenes and narration montages. You can't say anything bad about it,
but the mode seems more like an excuse in order to print "single player" on the game box.
This series has seen so much better cool real single player campaign content in the past,
which SC5 once again as its predecessor has chosen to ignore.
But yes SC5 is still is must have: The game even though only more or less a cosmetic
update is still outstanding multiplayer beat 'em up. Go get it, have some fun playing with your friends.

3.0 out of 5 stars Much unrealized potential., 5 Mar. 2012
This review is from: Neverdead (PS3) (Video Game)
A great idea, a great design, a promising story.... yet unpolished in many details.
While the game generally is fun, there are countless little things that ruin your
excitement once in a while.
For instance you get too often stuck by too strict physical simulation, so that
you can neither use the navigation options to flee those little instant-game-over
critters, nor have a valid chance to evade the next incoming boss move that'll again
instantly send you back to rolling head mode.
Could have been the starter of a great new brand as cool as for example DMC,
but lacking execution puts this game far down in the pool of mediocre games.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just another generic big budget shooter without any heart., 1 Aug. 2011
This review is from: F.E.A.R. 3 (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
Finally this series has reached the point where you get served just one more generic big budget military shooter.
No more thrills, no more trying to tell a story. Just the usual run down level after level and shoot all soldiers for no apparent reason.
No one needs this kind of product anymore, though publishers once more tricked me into buying another one
by slipping in in under the well known label of the originally very interesting and unique "Fear" franchise.

Yes maybe the new asymmetric multiplayer-co-op is fun, or maybe it is not. I don't know since I was relieved to uninstall
the game quickly right after having the end-game credits flash by.

If you are looking for just another mindless shooter, do get this game. It offers lots of weapons, crash, boom and bang.
If you instead are looking for a title that can entertain you beyond click quick head shots, then do not bother with the Fear-franchise anymore
as it offers nothing more than very simple entertainment for easily excited twens, who actually due to the mature nature of the content should not be the
target group of the product at all.
