Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (Xbox)
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (Xbox)

3.0 out of 5 stars Star wars fans!, 31 Dec. 2003
They just keep on churning out Star wars games now and to be fair the best so far is Star wars Knights of the old republic but for those who like a bit more action then this game is good.
You start out by selecting your jedis look as well as saber colour and begin your life as a jedi trainee in Luke skywalkers Jedi academy.
You have a list of missions to do and they can be done in any order and finishing some missions pushes the story along and finishing missions lets you advance your Jedi skills and powers.
The graphics are good and represent the star wars universe very well and the lightsaber effects are fantastic.
Special mention has to be given to the sound effects complete with light saber swooshes and laser blasts.
This game also offers the chance to use vehicles like speeder bikes and scout walkers, You can also use stationary laser cannons to blast the enemy.
The multiplayer is fun with plenty of maps and game modes and some good bots for you and a freind to team up against.
A word of warning though i did come up against a bug in the game on one level, The computer controlled jedi playing along on a mission with me got stuck on one of the cut scenes meaning i had to start the whole level again.
So in short good fun but maybe best for star wars fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tango down!, 31 Dec. 2003
Rainbow 6-3 has to be one of the really great X-box games,Everything about it slick and very well done the graphics are fanatstic and the sound effects are also top notch.
You lead an international elite S.W.A.T team through 14 missions in various parts of the world, Start the mission by selecting your kit do you need flashbang grenades or maybe C.S gas?(dont forget the gas mask!).
You play the game in a first person view point(like most shooter games) and lead your team using a simple to use menu system.
This game is easy to learn to play and will soon have you smashing through doors to clear a room full of bad guys! you can lean round corners use objects for cover and even slowly crack open doors.
A special mention has to go to the graphics as they are fantastic with great lighting effects and shadows( you can even spot bad guys by looking out for the shadows).
The game also features some great smoke and fire effects and even things like curtains flap in the breeze, in fact the graphics remind me of the game Splinter Cell (which is a good thing!).
The sound effects are great and add to the tension (one level is spent sneaking through a mansion to rescue the owner while some classical music plays on the radio downsatairs!, Also the flash bangs effects are great if your to close! complete with ringing in your ears!.
This game is not a First person shooter and if you play it as such you will soon get fed up with being killed! but use a bit of skill and you will really get the most out of it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Roleplaying heaven, 18 Dec. 2003
If you like your role-playing games you have to buy this! the scope of the game is huge and freeform!, Dont want to do the main story quest? well fine, explore around?, do one of hundreds of small quests? its up to you.
You can also buy two expansion packs for this game that are just as good and add new content and lands to explore.
The graphics are great and really drag you into the game, Nice weather effects and good animation on characters.
Some really nice sound effects and nice music, Wild animal noises when your in the wilderness add loads of amptmnosphere.
you will be playing this for ages! there is so much to do and see and with the two expanision packs no worry about getting bored.

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh dear, 18 Dec. 2003
Ok E.A lets get one thing straight YOU CANT BUILD AN ENTIRE GAME AROUND SET PIECES yes the set pieces may be fantastic but we need some sort of game inbetween them.
This game is full of flaws! it has various bugs and graphical glitches and i was very dissapointed, I loved playing the other games in the series so had high hopes for this one.
Instead of thinking of clever ways to make the game hard the developers have just made it harder to kill the bad guys! (seven head shots on one guy??!!).
These are nothing special and in no way push the xbox, There are a few graphical glitches(people getting stuck in walls etc).
Fun at first but soon becomes boring,Set pieces are good though.
Two player co-op is also fun for a while.
So in short this game is fun for a very short time and is one you should rent before buying

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 15 Dec. 2003
This review is from: Call of Duty (PC CD) (Video Game)
I`m a really big fan of the Medal of honour series since i first started to play them on the ps1 many years ago, So i was really looking forward to this game after being a bit dissapointed with the Medal of honour expansion packs on the P.C.
This game was created by a lot of the creators of the medal of hounor series and it shows! it just reeks quality! the graphics are fantastic and sound effects are great (Huge explosions and machine gun fire).
A mention has to be given to the A.I as its great your fellow soldiers actually work as a team giving covering fire etc.
The enemy A.I is also good as they actually seem to be scared of being shot (unlike most games where they just storm straight at you).
If you enjoyed the medal of Honor games and like first person shooters please give this game a try.

4.0 out of 5 stars great, 5 Dec. 2003
I have a great time with this game as both my 4 year old son and my 6 year old nephew are really getting into star wars and we play it together.
The single player story part of the game is ok but it really comes into its own on the multiplayer battles, these are great fun and you can have full bot support (p.c players) as well.
The graphics are ok but dont really stretch the x box.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, 5 Dec. 2003
If you enjoyed the game Morrowind the Elder Scrolls you will enjoy this game, Think of it as a pirate role playing game with freeform gameplay.
The graphics are very nice and have some great touches like youe crew running around the deck and the sunsets when you are moored in a secluded bay, a mention has to go to the great storm and weather effects and also the sea effects!.
The game is hard to start with and you will die a few times but stick with it and you discover just how deep this game can be.
You will need a decent p.c to get the most from the game i run a 2 ghz pentium 4 with a 128mb nvidia graphic card and it runs well.
A lot has been said about bugs in this game and i have to admit the game has crashed on me but only once.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grand theft auto beater??, 8 Nov. 2003
After months of waiting True Crime is here! but does it live up to the hype? well yes it does!.
You play the part of a renegade cop (you know the type you have seen them in the big budget cop movies!) and you join an elite team sent to clear up the streets.
What streets they are!, the graphics are great birds fly up from the ground when you run towards them and passers by chat on mobile phones! and the playing area is HUGE.
You get to drive around the city solving random crimes as well as working through the story missions, You can do some great things like tear through the town with your siren blaring out doing handbrake turns round corners and crazy jumps!.
Why not try frisking a few passers by or getting involved in a shootout with bad guys(with full max payne style bullet time!).
This game has so much to do,discover and unlock it manages to merge many genres and it works.
So to sum up! take the best bits of Max Payne,Grand theft auto and chuck in some great fighting and a fantastic soundtrack and you get True crime streets of L.A.
You owe it to yourself to buy this game! go on you know you want to!

4.0 out of 5 stars Online mayhem, 20 Oct. 2003
An online game is only ever as good as the online community that supports it and Tribes 2 has a very strong community, With dedicated fan sites including playing guides and hints and tips to get even the worst player started.
This game is not about plot but is all about frantic action as you play online in teams to complete various objectives (capture a flag, defend your base etc) you can do this in a variety of armour configurations depending on your job in the team.
You can play as a sniper or stay at your base and deploy and repair defences, you can tool up with some heavy guns/missile launchers and take the fight to the enemy ,Whatever your playing style you should find a role that suits you!?.
You can also pilot various vehicles including tanks and bombers and scout cycles and have your online buddys as gunners or co pilots.
Once you find a good game server with like minded players this game will take over your life, Sadly like most online games there can be a few idiot players so i suggest joining a guild or clan of good players to help you get the most from this game as it works best with good teams on both sides.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun, 14 Oct. 2003
This review is from: Kung Fu Chaos (Xbox) (Video Game)
I love this game! its not really much fun on your own but get a few buddys/relatives around to play and its fantastic(i get beaten on the game by both my 4 year old son and 6 year old nephew!).
The game has lots of great comedy touches and is easy to learn to play,it also has a good tutorial level to teach you all the moves.
There are plenty of great characters (monkey is the best!) and loads of levels and features to unlock! so if you like multiplayer games and beat em ups then please buy this!.
