4.0 out of 5 stars Ideal, 4 Oct. 2013

The back plastic part replaces the back that comes with your phone.

The original phone plastic has a slight metallic look whereas this is a plain blue.

The inside of the flap over piece is like velvet. The flap is just over 1mm thick.

The beauty of this case is that is prevents scratching or pocket dialling but adds very little to the weight or the thickness of the phone.

These are £20 from high street shops so £7.50 on Amazon is a good deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super bright, rather large, rather pleasing, 4 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a big one. It measures 210mm long by 80mm diameter. Make sure it will fit both in terms of length and also that the diameter is not too large for your light fitting/shade.

It arrives beautifully packed in moulded polystyrene in a box and in a bubble wrap package.

It is a very white, very bright bulb. Seems instant or perhaps I simply cannot tell the difference between super bright and incredibly bright. In a small or medium size room it really is like daylight. I am left wondering how bright the 65 or 85 watt versions must be. This is enough for my rooms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Go for it, 24 Aug. 2013

I love listening to music and have various amps and speakers mainly in the medium range.

These monitors are good value. If you buy a £200 stereo amp and some £200 speakers then if you chose carefully you can get a better result than with these. If you spent £1000+ you could get even better.

However these are about £90 and yet provide quite a strong performance across the range of music types. I think that even someone used to listening to very high end systems would not be disappointed. They could be described as high fidelity.

They have sufficient volume and sufficient base and are perfect for casual listening.

They look good too and have a nice feel. The volume knob has a modest blue backlight which is cool and they come with a decent amount of cable. Connect the power supply to the mains, the input to the motherboard and then link the two speakers with a cable and you are away. All cables are supplied.

They have a 3.5mm headphone jack and also same size axillary input. They measure 325mm high off the desk and 90mm wide.

If I am picky the base knob is a little hard to turn and I think the volume control should be bigger. That said when using a computer you might often use the slides etc on screen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but, 24 Aug. 2013

If like me you are wondering whether this monitor is quite as good as others that cost £30 to £40 more then in my view it is not.

That does not mean this is bad value but compared to those slightly more expensive this is not quite as good.

No grumbles. It cost a little less and is marginally less good.

If I had my time again I would have gone for an Asus or a Benq which by the way I already have so my remarks are based on direct comparison.

Solidly made with a sound matt finish.

The holes in the side are not threaded. I happen to have a threading tool so got around this but I was a little surprised it did not come pre-threaded.

It did come with 8 small screws which was generous and helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Punchy, Clear and Very Acoustic, 10 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I love listening to all types of music and have quite a collection of old and new hi fi, some fairly cheap and some more mid range hi fi separates. I linked these via a pc audio card to Spotify through a Yamaha A-S500 amp. I find that streamed music seems more detailed than CDs.

These are very good speakers, no doubt. They are crystal clear and give that sort of breathing feeling almost bringing the true musical rendering to life in your room. They do well with all music types from Paganini to ZZ Top. Instrumental music is detailed and accurate and very acoustic. High fidelity is for once an accurate label.

Since writing this review I have purchased some q acoustic 2020i in white for the kitchen. In my opinion the q acoustics have a better finish but I think the Dali's have the edge on sonic performance. More dynamic contrast, is how I would describe the difference but both are very good speakers.

They can handle bass and I think for most average people who like to crank it up a little, but not deafen themselves, these are probably bassy and loud enough, quite punchy.

If you want to have proper bass which causes your ears to bleed, your organs to vibrate and the neighbours to complain then these small units simply cannot move the same air as larger more powerful speakers. However if you want excellent high fidelity and are happy with medium volumes and enough tight punchy base to get the idea then I do not think anyone could be disappointed. For their size they are very surprisingly powerful.

They are well made, solid and have a quality feel with quite pointy corners. The covers are easily removable but so light and filmy I doubt you can tell the difference off or on.

You cannot bi-wire these but can use either banana plugs or wire to connect them as you wish.

At the price these are possibly the best small speakers on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars A touch of luxury, 10 July 2013

My wife has been hankering after these ever since we bought a pair for our two sons.

When in bed you sort of half grope for the light switch usually in a semi wake state. The loo visit in the night and so on.

With these your hand only has to vaguely touch the silver area and you get a dimmed light. Touch again and its a medium light and touch again and its maximum brightness up to 40 watts. Touch once more and its off.

This is so much easier than feeling for a light switch.

The lamp shade is off white but lets plenty of light through without seeing glare from the bulb. The silver/chrome type finish is good, a tad rippled but basically looks quite modern and pleasing.

So a good practical bedside lamp which is fairly inexpensive and looks great.

Once you have a touch bedside lamp I doubt you would go back to a standard one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously Pleasing, 10 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this for my daughters phone. It is inexpensive. It fits the phone snuggly and the cover is bright but with a subtle pattern.

The best bit is that the cover is so soft to touch. Silicon rubber but not at all sticky or rubbery just incredibly soft. Seriously surprisingly soft - you would have to touch this yourself to believe it. I think it would also help cushion the phone if dropped.

So overall a very pleasing and inexpensive accessory.

Sharkoon Drakonia Mouse
Sharkoon Drakonia Mouse
Price: £25.99

3.0 out of 5 stars OK but better value elsewhere, 10 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you own a standard optical mouse and are wondering whether to upgrade to a laser mouse then I would say go ahead.

This Sharkoon mouse is good in that it is quite sensitive and provides for a very smooth cursor movement and fits the hand well. The buttons are very easy to press and the mouse glides well as it has larger skid pads than many standard mice. Is the plural of a computer mouse, mice or mouses?

Anyway, back to the review, this one can have the resolution adjusted by a small switch on the top and an LED shows you the setting. This is more useful than you might think, especially for gaming. It basically allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the mouse easily and quickly 'in-game' without accessing the control panel.

The mouse is very programmable and has a pleasing shiny finish with another LED illuminated emblem which you can switch to blue, red or green. Completely pointless but a fun, cool, touch nonetheless. The mouse comes with up to 6 weights which slot into the base. Again these do allow the user to customise the weight of the mouse to suit their own preference. You will probably only do this once but another pleasing feature and actually worth having.

The reason I have rated this only 3 star is that I also have a Perixx MX 2000. I made the mistake of thinking this Sharkoon was the same bar the finish. It is nearly the same but there are a couple of key differences. The shiny surface of the Sharkoon is more pleasing than the Perixx but your hand gets hotter, sweatier and more slippery than with the more tactile rubber like finish on the Perixx. Also, and most importantly, the scroll on the Sharkoon is noticeably stiff. To the point that if your hands are at all greasy it is actually difficult to move the scroller. This is slightly annoying and spoils an otherwise good product.

So basically this is a good mouse but the Perixx, whilst very similar, is just better and at the time of writing the same price.
