3.0 out of 5 stars Easy read but disappointing, 23 Feb. 2015
This review is from: Second Life (Hardcover)
Having read SJ Watsons first book 'before I go to sleep' I was looking forward to a good read however, 'second life' was not quite as gripping! The first half of this book was slow, dull and I wondered whether the story line was going anywhere. The second half picked up as the story came together. The ending felt rushed as the whole story seemed condensed into the last 3 or so chapters. Then the book just came to an abrupt end and left the reader hanging.. Rubbish! Certainly didn't seem to have the pace of her first novel.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dull, 21 Jan. 2014
This review is from: The Husband's Secret (Paperback)
After seeing all the good reviews and high placing in the bestseller chart, I decided to give this book a go. I was hoping that this story would have a twist but having guess the content of the husband's letter I was left rather disappointed. Didn't make it to the end of this book after finding there wasn't a dramatic twist at all. Can't understand why this book had such good reviews. Don't waste your time!

Dreams Do Come True: The Autobiography
Dreams Do Come True: The Autobiography
by Katherine Grainger
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £20.00

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, 16 Jan. 2014
A well written and honest account of her determination for Olympic gold. Truly inspirational! If you are a non rower you may get bogged down with some of the more technical wording but don't let that out you off. Loved how throughout her endless training it was punctuated by light hearted moments and humour. Fantastic woman!

Plain Truth
Plain Truth
by Jodi Picoult
Edition: Paperback
Price: £8.99

2.0 out of 5 stars Slow, 14 Dec. 2013
This review is from: Plain Truth (Paperback)
I have read several of Jodi Picoult's books and this one was rather disappointing. The plot was slow moving and repetitive. The character Katie was just irritating and rather unbelievable. Just didn't match up to her pervious stories, kept reading as I thought there would be a twist but the only 'twist' occurred in the last few pages.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, 2 April 2013
This review is from: The Fault in Our Stars (Paperback)
After seeing the quantity of 5 star reviews for this book I thought I'd give it a go. Having finished it I can't understand what all the hype was about. There isn't much of a story line, the writing is simple and I couldn't really get into the characters. I was expecting a dramatic ending to this book but was rather let down.

Me Before You
Me Before You
by Jojo Moyes
Edition: Paperback
Price: £3.85

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read, 22 Mar. 2013
This review is from: Me Before You (Paperback)
Was pleasantly surprised by this book, couldn't put it down and read it cover to cover in an afternoon. The story starts off a little slow and half way through the book I was thinking not much had happened but I couldn't help but become drawn in by the characters. Rather sad ending and even tho this is classed as a 'romance' novel it is only until the end that this becomes apparent. Definitely a nice light read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dull read, 25 Oct. 2012
This review is from: Is It Just Me? (Hardcover)
Was looking forward to the release of this book having enjoyed her tv comedy series but was extremely disappointed. A dull read with occasional funny parts but extremely irritating with the inclusion of constant conversation with miranda's 'young self'. Had to skip through these sections. Don't waste your money!
