4.0 out of 5 stars What I loved about the first volume is the consistency and tongue-in-cheek ..., 23 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Is it me or the second volume was quite dark? What I loved about the first volume is the consistency and tongue-in-cheek smart remarks and the smooth storyline. This volume, still pretty good, somehow stepped into the realm of dark science fiction which is not quite my mood at the time I was reading it. The story is still coherent, intelligently written, solid plot and the artwork is as stunning as ever.

Finally a book that fumbles into the bag of mental confusion to bring out a coherent understanding of Islamic intellectual heritage, especially scriptural interpretations.

UFO Chronicles of the Soviet Union
UFO Chronicles of the Soviet Union
by Jacques Vallee
Edition: Hardcover

3.0 out of 5 stars It's an interesting read, but lacks depth., 16 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is basically a narrative of Jacques Vallee's trip to the Soviet Union in 1989 and his meetings and deliberations with local Ufologists and scientists.

There's a lot of interesting comparison between Western and Soviet take on the phenomenon of UFOs. There's the argument of bio-location as a method to study UFO landing sites and discussion of the underground UFO community in the Soviet Union.

Vallee also brings the reader's attention to the situation and daily life in the previous Soviet Union and how this somehow affected the way Soviet researchers dealt with the UFO phenomenon. A socio-political take so to speak.

It's not amongst Vallee's best work, but still worth reading.

Ufos In Reality: Programmed Aerospace Monitors Of Our Species
Ufos In Reality: Programmed Aerospace Monitors Of Our Species

4.0 out of 5 stars First Chapters Deserve Serious Consdieration...., 16 Sept. 2014
Erm...the theory the writer presents is quite intriguing and deserves a serious follow-up. There's definitely a scientific integrity and a high degree of scientific research in this book.

Having said that, the book in general could have been written better. It lacks solid consistency and unified methodology. While the author starts the book by discussing the astronomical and aeronautical theory of UFOs, which is certainly interesting, he - half way through the book - starts to drift off. In the last chapter I found myself skipping through chapters due to some repetition of cheesy Ufology concepts. I got completely turned off when the author in the last section of the book started to look at the 'spiritual' aspects of the UFOs phenomenon.

In all fairness, Mr. Dutton clearly admits that the spirituality-Ufology relationship is a hard topic to discuss and he says he it's important to keep an open mind.

Given the core theory presented in this book, there could've been a better argument. And, even better, avoidance of any mention of UFOs occultism. However, Mr Dutton has successfully came up with a logical perspective on the phenomenon, and his thoughts should be considered seriously.

I wanted to give the book 3 stars only, but given the large amount of research put into it, it deserved four. I had to take one star out due to unsatisfactory writing style which contains a lot of drifting off the topic and hashing.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can comfortably confirm the vast majority of information in this book, 29 Aug. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very factual account of Israel...

Having worked as a journalist in Israel and the occupied territories, I can comfortably confirm the vast majority of information in this book. Israel is socially and politically a very closed society and very hard for outsiders who don't speak Hebrew, or at least Arabic and who don't live inside Israel or in the occupied territories to see the full picture.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy with the purchase., 3 July 2014
Great Item. The seller was quite helpful and informed us of the delivery date.

The item well packed. It was easy to put together. Although it might take about 2-3 hours to get it all up and running. The final result is stunning.

I bought it for my wife's studio and she absolutely loves it. Looks sturdy and expensive.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite stretchy..., 1 July 2014

I got them because they were pretty cheap, but of course you get what you pay for. While they do OK, they still need to stretch a little bit more...they feel like solid ropes rather than elastic straps.

Revelations: Alien Contact and Human Deception
Revelations: Alien Contact and Human Deception
by Jacques Vallee
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Intellectual paradigm shift, 1 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I always found Jacques Vallees' theories quite intriguing in the sense that they take unorthodox yet extremely convincing path of logic. Vallee is not a debunker, he simply believes that while Area 51 and Roswell for instance are perhaps an intelligence mind game, this still does not negate the essence of the UFO phenomenon. UFOs are not necessarily the product of extra-terrestrial intelligence, but rather physical objects from other dimensions. The evidence he presents is water tight. That is not to say it's not open to discussion, but gives you a different way to look at Ufology.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice.., 1 July 2014
The delivery was super fast and the item arrived in a perfect condition.

It feels and looks nice. My only take is that the instruction could do with a bit of wording instead of only diagrams. Also, there was a couple of screws missing. Luckily they were readily available in my toolbox which helped me finish putting up the product properly.

Very happy with the final result.
