5.0 out of 5 stars AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE, 10 Feb. 2010
This review is from: BioShock 2 (PS3) (Video Game)

Just finished this today and i must say it was fantastic. I'm gonna aim this review to anyone who has played the first game and anyone who hasn't i demand you to go and buy it now! Right so I'll break this down simply as I am not a fan of long paragraphs.

Graphics: 8.5/10: pretty much the same as the first one very bleak and ominous surroundings create an overall feeling of dread. underwater section are beautiful. Slicers can be a bit buggy at times.

Gameplay: 9.5/10: Works really well. Being able to use Plasmids and Guns at the same time is genius. Things like hacking are much the same. Movement of character is fluid and easy.

Story: 10/10: As usual the story line is fantastic and emotive. I won't tell you anything but trust me if you've got half a brain you'll enjoy it.

Multiplayer: 7/10: Works reasonably well and is very fun but it's a little arcade-y and can become tiresome reasonably quickly. With giants like COD on the multiplayer market it was always gonna suffer. (Kinda reminded me of Team Fortress)

Longevity: 8/10: You should expect around 6-10 hours of play from the single player, depending on how you play the game, and multiplayer will keep you coming back to it for a good while. You won't be able to session the online like you could on COD but I'd say it's still got a good 30-40 hours of play in it until it becomes tiresome.

Overall: 9.5/10: A very, very solid game that still runs in the same fashion as the first title. If you're expecting something vastly new you'll be disappointed but if you're coming back for more of the same Bioshock madness then you'll love it. Multiplayer aint half bad either. Hope this review was helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars worthy of 4 stars, 7 Feb. 2010
This review is from: Bloody Aria [2006] [DVD] (DVD)
I'll keep this very brief. I enjoyed this movie and believe it deserves 4 stars (i gave it 5 to level it out with the other 3 star review). I found it very tense and original with an interesting story. I also thought the the acting was very emotive and the characters are very relatable. basically i enjoyed this movie and i think you will if you enjoy other korean movies so give it ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why Fix Something That Isn't Broken?, 3 Feb. 2010
F.E.A.R is a very solid first person shooter with horror elements that feels similar to Half Life. You play as a new recruit who is sent out with the F.E.A.R team to basically see what the hell is going on. Action is very fast paced and very punishing so be cautious if your not an experienced FPS/PC game user, and even if you are you will be dieing a lot! The horror side of this game is phenomenal it is one of the only games that has ever properly scared me alongside the original Silent Hill, Dead Space and Condemned. The main point of the horror is Alma a strange little girl in a red dress who keeps popping up everywhere and causing these incredibly weird hallucinations or flashbacks or whatever the hell you wanna call them which are extremely unsettling, much more unsettling than you would expect. The second installment is much the same as the first without much added on but why fix something that isn't broken? Online is also great but veeeeeery hard some people are just nuts at this game. A very good game basically (or very good games i should say) and at this price why not?

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 28 Jan. 2010
This review is from: Meanderthal (Audio CD)
I'm gonna keep this short this album is really a great achievement. It sounds like 65% Baroness and 35% old school Biffy Clyro and it really makes a very nice sound. I agree with the previous review that this is a poppy album, it is. This is mainly due to the vocals which are very similar to the harmonies of Baroness but less screamy and in your face. Another reason I like this album is because of it's diversity. The only problem I've ever had with Baroness is that they seem to have a very distinctive style which they never tend to move from (that doesn't include the song Steel That Sleeps The Eye) making some of there songs sound a bit samey however Torche have managed to move away from this with there almost poppy influence. One song can be melodic and soothing and then all of a sudden it moves into ear raping(in a good way) heaviness. definitely worth checking out especially if your into Baroness, if not and you just strayed to this page from some of your more 'pure-metal' bands i still recommend it as a bit of a change. At least download Amnesian, if that doesn't persuade you nothing will. Peace hope this helped :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good but parts drudge along too slowly, 28 Jan. 2010
This review is from: Teiresias (MP3 Download)
This is another song that is great from Baroness' and in fact I think this may be their heaviest song to date. The opening almost doom metal riff leaves puddles of stunned faces all over the floor. It then kicks off into a very punk like section where i feel the vocals have been turned way to low and from there it flows much like something off of Red Album. Another great song worth checking out even if it can be a little slow in parts and the recording and equalizing is occasionally a little off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, 28 Jan. 2010
This review is from: Cavité (MP3 Download)
This song is really very good although it does sound different to both Baroness' Red and Blue records but don't let that turn you off it's just classic Baroness meets punk influences and it makes for a beefy song. Definitely worth checking out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Impressive., 4 Dec. 2009
This book sees Robin Hobb back on form. Her writing has returned to it's best. I feel that this book is very good even if it has quite a slow start and seems almost like a set up book for a bigger grander series. Just read it if you liked Robin Hobb's live ship traders, farseer or tawny man series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Film no Book yes., 14 Aug. 2009
This review is from: I Am Legend [DVD] [2007] (DVD)
Please I beg of you not to watch this movie. especially before reading the book which is phenomenal. Will Smith has ruined a classic with his ridiculous modern take on the story and choice to dumb down the vampire like creatures. Just do yourself a favour and read the book its only about 90 pages long and is so much more satisfying. 2* just for the CGI.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, 6 July 2009
I ran out this morning down to my local hmv to grab this album taking my ancient cd walkmen with me just so i wouldn't have to wait to listen to this album and to put it simply i was definitely not disappointed. This is a unique sounding album. It may have influences that can be clearly heard but the combination of these things is unknown it's like porcupine tree meets radiohead meets wes montgomery trio meets nine inch nails meets feeder and it makes for a tasty mix. listening to the first track on my way home i couldn't help but breath deep with a smile on my face as the music uplifted my spirits about modern day music. let me just say if it wasn't for these guys, mgmt, white lies, mystery jets and many others(sorry if i forgot your favourite band) i would have given up on modern music years ago. The song that bought you onto this album I'm guessing was 'Always Like This' now if your expecting the whole album to be like that cheekey little song you might be a little disappointed the rest of the album is actually a lot deeper and really proves that these guys deserve the recognition of every prog indie fan over the world. It is in many ways a perfect album if your still unsure try and listen to 'Evening/Morning' it will surely change your mind. If it doesn't you probably just don't have a mind.
