5.0 out of 5 stars It's so stupid! But so good!, 7 Sept. 2003
This review is from: PARTY TIME (Audio CD)
This is a prime example of what novelty records should be. Novelty records are not made up of songs that should be taken seriously or attempt to inspire people. It is just there to laugh at and enjoy. The Cheeky Girls take what they have done in their first three singles and incorporate it in their debut album. All the songs are catchy and all include the infamous "Cheeky Cheeky" line while continuously proclaiming that it is "Partytime."
Standouts are "Mickey Blue," in which the girls exclaim that their crush should "pick [them] both and nevermind;" "Espanola Dream," which really doesnt sound too Latin at all; and "Follow My Star," their ballad which has got to be heard. It's so bad and stupid and totally not a song they should be even attempting to do, but they do and it's great!
Definitely not one of those albums that is gonna be changing lives in the years to come, but one that you can remember 2003 by, the year of the Cheeky Girls. I can still remember seeing them live and watching my friend scream, "You're a genius!!!" at their mother, sitting on the side of the stage with a glass of wine in one had, cigarette in the other.
