The Terran Privateer (Duchy of Terra Book 1)

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyable and original, 19 July 2016

The framing device of earth conquered by aliens and a single ship tasked with liberating it has been done before. But the new direction this one takes coupled with just being a good space opera romp makes this a novel highly recommended. Seriously buy you will not be disappointed.

This review is from: Star Traders 4X Empires (App)
It does well to create a master of Orion style 4x on a kindle. All the basics are there but none of it feels lifelike or compelling to me. The controls are pretty good if complex as they pretty much need to be. All in all it seems to lack polish but hey it's free I recommend giving it a try maybe there's character hidden there that I didn't see that'd make it more than a generic space 4x game. Oh and I wrote this review cause the other didn't seem quite fair. Sure it's no masterpiece but it's not feel either. Distinctly average is my final verdict.

3.0 out of 5 stars A decent space opera romp marred by lack of proofreading, 18 Oct. 2013

The story is decent though the characters could be better developed. The setting feels like the author has played a whole lot of the free space series which gives the story a novel but familiar feel to it. Honestly the story badly needed proofreading and not just spell check the frequent use of clearly out of place words detracted from my enjoyment.
