i bake quiet a bit and make lots of cakes as gifts/orders and in the past i have purchased a few of theKitchen Craft Cake Cutting Wire
but since they changes the wire from serrated to plain they are useless and the size is a bit limiting. i purchased this slicer for £13.99+p&p after looking at Wilton Large Folding Cake Leveler
+ Zenker 2411 3-Piece Tart- and Cake-Slicing Aid Set
and this one that i am reviewing but from an american site for $59.99.
though there is no brand name and no details of how to replacing the blades i still think this is a good slicer. the frame is light but feels firm and the three blades are thin but strong. they look a little like a narrow version of the blades on an electric carving knife but flexible when the screws are loose.the blades seem to be quiet adjustable and there are measurements to guide the height of the blades.
personally i am going to only use one blade and move the cakes to make the cuts as i dont know where of if i can replace the blades and this will prolong the life of this slicer ( hopefully) until i win the lottery and can afford an "AGBEY" slicer (website or youtube)
