The storyline is very different from the other Pride and Prejudice variations, but no less credible. I enjoyed it very much. The characters were well drawn, but not much changed from the original. A fun, clean romance.

1.0 out of 5 stars American, 28 Feb. 2017

I am sorry, but from start to finish this is the worst variation I have read. They are eating food which did not exist in England at that time. The language is littered with Americanisms. There are grammatical errors, words omitted, poor punctuation etc. The storyline is poor, characters are badly drawn, need I go on? Please don't waste your time reading it and certainly don't spend money on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gentle Romance, 10 Feb. 2017
This book, like this author's other books, is written and set just after the Second World War. Her romances are funny, the characters are well written and often appear in other books. They are usually either set in the Cotswolds or in Scotland. She always describes the setting incredibly well, so you can almost imagine yourself there. I have always really enjoyed reading her books and as they are not in print now, I am delighted to see them available in Kindle Unlimited. D E Stevenson also has a large following on Facebook.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, 30 Jan. 2017
This is one of the better alternative versions of Pride and Prejudice. There are a few typos and words omitted, but not too many to spoil the story, nor are there many Americanisms.

The language in the story is also that of its time.

Very similar to the Secret Society game. A pity some of the features like the friends, which works well in Secret Society, aren't available yet. Fun. I am very much enjoying it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Plot, 7 Jan. 2017
I loved the plot and the new characters, which for me would rate five stars. What spoiled it were the Americanisms, e.g. 'gotten'.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dire, 6 Jan. 2017
I couldn't finish this book. A hero who keeps bursting into tears, Georgiana dead, Colonel Fitzwilliam dead, no thanks. Not the most cheerful book I've ever read. It takes a very skilled writer to do a good tragedy and this one isn't, I don't think.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too Unlikely, 28 Dec. 2016
This review is from: Pemberley Quaking (Kindle Edition)
I'm sorry, but the chances of an earthquake happening in Derbyshire that is so strong that buildings are destroyed is so remote that I couldn't read past chapter three. The author would have been better off writing the story with different characters in a different country rather than trying to get on the Pemberley bandwagon. The fact that the Benets had a son did nothing to add to the story either in my opinion.

2.0 out of 5 stars Americanisms, 28 Dec. 2016
There are too many Americanisms in this book for my taste. Darcy would never have used the word "gotten". The plots were interesting, the characters well drawn, but the vocabulary and phrasing wasn't that of Jane Austen nor her era and this spoilt it for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun, 13 Dec. 2016
This book was a lot of fun to read, with lots of twists and turns. It is one of the better variations on Pride and Prejudice
