5.0 out of 5 stars Improve your PR: Practical and useful advice from a seasoned journalist, 30 Dec. 2013
The PR Masterclass is written by former Telegraph journalist Alex Singleton. It has lots of practical advice on creating an effective media strategy for your organisation or clients. Singleton covers areas that will improve your pitching and gives useful advice which will help your clients focus on more newsworthy material. As the author has been a successful journalist the book offers a very useful perspective.

It's an easy and entertaining read with tips, tricks and guidance that you can put into practice immediately. If you follow Singleton's advice I believe you can transform your relationship with the media very quickly. As I've said before, journalists will thank you for reading it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hits the spot!, 4 Oct. 2010
This review is from: Man on the Spot (Hardcover)
This is an open and honest account of how a cub reporter on a small Scottish weekly made his way to the top of his profession as a well known and popular correspondent on BBC TV News. At every stage of the journey, there was a feeling that he was working at the outer limits of his ability yet this is what drove him on.

There are humorous stories of events that went badly wrong and compelling and tragic tales of life in some of the forgotten areas of the world. As the first television journalist to be allowed to travel freely in Stalinist Albania, his reports of dying and neglected children and political prisoners locked away for nearly half a century were the catalyst for a huge international relief effort. Norman Wisdom and the Duchess of York were so moved by his accounts that they insisted in travelling there with him.

Bill recalls chance meetings with kings and presidents, IRA bombers and the saintly Mother Teresa.

He also tells of some of the bizarre incidents he has encountered in what he calls his `release valve' as a football referee still whistling away in his 53rd season.

For anyone interested in taking up a career in journalism this is a compelling read. Bill certainly spells it out - warts and all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic music for all the family, 30 Dec. 2009
This review is from: Good Natured Music (MP3 Download)
I've just picked up a copy of Good Natured Music and I'm totally thrilled! The twelve tracks feature a whole range of instruments and musical styles and if you have little ones they'll love singing along to the catchy tunes. From healthy eating to trips out in the countryside, all the songs contain positive messages that both children and parents can enjoy together. It's the best CD purchase I've made all year - highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Langham is a genius!, 26 Jan. 2006
If you didn't catch this when it first aired on the BBC you missed a real treat! These days it seems impossible to escape the endless barrage of reality and fly on the wall 'documentary' shows that dominate our TV sets. Chris Langham gives this tedious, mind-numbing format a comic twist. Playing an incompetent interviewer he introduces us to 'people like us' in six familiar 'reality' type settings. Highly recommended - an excellent choice for anyone with a love for satirical comedy!
