5.0 out of 5 stars Wow what a transformation!, 6 May 2016
This review is from: Hopelessness (Audio CD)
As a previous fan of Antony and the Johnsons, I was wary of a new project and change of direction . But this has to be the best way to do it. This is a totally new direction, but the ethereal voice and excellent production works in harmony.

This album really keeps up with the times, I wouldn't say it's pop, it's more electronic ballads, almost touches on bjork at times. I know this album is Co produced with Hudson Mohawke and Oneohtrix Point Never but the music and the voice together just works.

This is a new direction, but I feel it is up there, if not better than Antony and the Johnsons earlier work as the passion and rawness is still there with a touch of weirdness, and blissful ballads.

This album is about the world as a whole and really packs a punch, the words the music, the theme. Anohni has done a remarkable job on her debut album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music for the lost generation, 21 Nov. 2015

Revisiting this album now after buying tidy xx it is really where my heart lies. The negative reviews are crazy. This is one after another and is exactly what tidy are about, not just great hard house because hard trance is equally as brilliant. Spine tingling in part and a great selection of the the tidy 2 the other side of tidy. A great label and this album still sounds as fresh as it did when I first bought it. In fact the whole resonate series offers something special and is still going now. Says it all. Brings back good memories for me

Not a lot to say really, you'd only buy this if you knew what tidy was. Ultimate collection of the best hard house and hard trance of the past twenty years. Tidy boys you are legends enjoy your retirement. But if your young and new to the clubbing scene enjoy this and realise what you missed out on before the dreaded EDM and CLUBLAND took over. Pretty much perfect tune after tune.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leftism was and still is one of my favourite albums. But this beats rhythm and stealth, 14 Jun. 2015
Wow. Leftism was and still is one of my favourite albums. But this beats rhythm and stealth. Feels new but still has that old school house feel. There's pounding house with universal everything and little fish but quite stripped back with bilocation and alternative light source. But they are both great. All in all a great come back even if it's a solo effort, I'm ready for more

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning!, 2 Feb. 2015

Having heard solo dancing on the radio over a year ago, this debut seems a long time coming. The album has a laid back electro vibe.
From start to finish the album takes you on a roller coaster with upbeat electro numbers but then stripped back with minimal synths and that stunning voice is really heard.

A very strong debut album and deserves to go far, great voice, great music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, 31 Oct. 2013
This review is from: Reflektor (Audio CD)
At first I really hated this album. If you're more of a fan of the classic funeral, you may disappointed. Yet if you love Arcade Fire and love progression this album does it. There's a lot of 80s retro feel to this, I personally love sprawl II on the suburbs, so the 80s feel worked well for me. The first cd is an eclectic mix with the title track reflektor being funky. It then goes on to have a touch of reggae, rock, dance. The second part then delves in to darker territory, into heavy bass, electro rock. All in all after a few listens it has totally blown me away, some will love, some will hate. I think their progression is epic. Standout tracks for me are normal person, its not over(hey orpheus) and afterlife. Would recommend to anyone, superb album

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique!!, 5 Aug. 2010
This review is from: The Suburbs (Audio CD)
There's not many bands that uplift me lately, however, these do. The band has progressed from their debut funeral, yet still have the same charm, Suburbs can fit any mood, and you can really relate to the songs, I personally like every song. Its moody, dark, emotional all the good ingredients of a great album. Also agree with another review arcade fire are like a soundtrack to your life. Keep up the good work, would highly recommend !

5.0 out of 5 stars top dj!, 12 Nov. 2007
This review is from: My Past, Your Present (Audio CD)
One of the best producers/djs ever, if your into hard trance that is! This album covers all the releases, and nearly every song is amazing, I especially like the way he creates cover versions of new songs, which work really well. A top notch album, perfect for hard trance fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard as nails!, 10 Nov. 2007
probably the best of the hard anthems series, as the tracks progessively get harder throughout the both cd's also there's a little hard trance too which is a bonus. Its great to see the welsh boys mix at their best!

I have to agree with the other review, as this is definately lacking the hard vibe. If you are into hardstyle, I suggest the Pharmacy series
