Took it to Germany (230V 50Hz 1ph) to charge motorola G smart phone. After a couple of minutes on charge the charger was very hot to the touch and it wasn't possible to use the phone as everything was just going haywire. Un-plugged the charger and haven't tried it again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Once more into the Breeches dear friends., 30 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Never had the figure for leather jeans and, coming back to biking after a 20 year gap, I wanted something that offered a bit more protection than just a normal pair of denim jeans so I decided to go for these. I'd previously checked out some of the comments regarding motorbike jeans and was forewarned that they might not fit the same as a pair of standard jeans but these aren't bad at all and, with a couple of caveats, are very comfortable to wear. I normally take a 29" leg and (ahem) 36" waist so went for the 30" leg and 38" waist which works fine. The denim is heavier than usual but quite flexible so you don't feel like you're wearing something that has been starched and needs a couple of washes to be broken in. The jeans are well made and, whilst they may not be as stylish as a pair of 501's, you won't stand out for the wrong reasons when away from the bike. The body armour consists of a pair of knee protectors and a pair of hip protectors. These are removable so the jeans can be washed and slide into cloth pockets on the inside of the jeans. The hip protectors don't intrude but the knee protectors are a bit harder to forget. However I've now worn the jeans for a number of extended periods and can live with it. It also has to be said that, when riding the bike, the knee protectors have a habit of moving around to the inside but apparently they all do this. It's not a big problem, I can certainly live with it but I suppose that you could use the jeans without the protectors inserted if you wanted. The jeans aren't intended to be any more waterproof than normal jeans and neither are they much warmer (bit more wind proof) so you will still need over trousers for cold wet days. I'm not in a rush to fully test the Kelvar and armour so I'll taken them on faith at the moment. All in all a good buy and I'm happy to recommend them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't directly work with Nikon D3100, 14 Jan. 2014
This might be the business with other DSLR's but the simple fact is that with my Nikon D3100, the trigger unit fouls the pop up flash, stopping the flash from working and therefore stopping the trigger unit from working. I do like the principle and will try to find a "Work around" using an off the camera hotshoe attachment. however it should also be noted that build quality means that the kit is for occasional enthusiast use and not pro work.

Postscript

I've now got the system to work by using an optical trigger unit to fire the wireless TX unit.
Connect my SB 400 flash to the Nikon hotshoe, set up the optical trigger unit so that it can "catch" the flash and position the two RX units (with slave flashes attached) at suitable locations and not in direct line of sight and "bob's your uncle" everything works. This may sound a bit convoluted but works well as it means that the main flash is the SB-400 and the two slaves can be used for fill in/shadow removal as they should be.

5.0 out of 5 stars When does season 3 come out on DVD?, 26 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Just got season 2 after the long wait and I'm down to the final disc so sign me up for season 3.
The series picks up where season 1 left off so it won't make much sense if you simply jump in here.
This isn't going to be for everybody but if you accept the basic premise then you are in for a treat.
Less of a "monster of the week" approach that we had in season 1 and more time is taken to develop character and plot. The season 2 story arc has the confidence to set up plot lines that are only likely to be tackled in a season 3 or even 4 (don't known how many seasons the series has run in the states).
As they laid out in season 1, it's never quite black and white if a character is good or bad. Like season 1 it does deal with complex issues, love, loyalty, friendship in an intelligent way. It's also good that other characters such as his police partner Hank and Sgt. Wu get to be more than just making up the numbers. Monroe, as usual, is great. I do think that the captain steals every scene and also has the best line of the series. The laughs, and there are quite a few for a drama, come naturally. There is a lot of gore & violence (Nick's swinging a double headed axe on the front cover so what do you expect) so you might want to watch first before allowing pre-15's to watch it.

4.0 out of 5 stars come back in 12 months time, 26 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you are going to use Inventor 2014 then you need something like this book to back up those many moments when you think "how do I do that" but either can't access Autodesk's on-line help or simply would prefer to read and re-read again the instructions.
I'm an experienced 2D AutoCAD user and what I've already found out from using this book is the different mind set you need to work with inventor. not just the "nuts & bolts" of using inventor (which command to use and how to do it etc ) but also how to think about how you intend to work through and develop a project. Just as importantly how to use the parts you've created in on project in another without it all getting very complicated and confusing.
I don't know f it's the best of it's type but it seems OK to me.
Yes the price is eye watering but then so is the price for inventor 2014.

It does what it does for a very good price.

3.0 out of 5 stars How much is a name worth?, 27 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The hood works fine and the attachment method is quick and easy. When not in use reversing the hood then attaching it allows it to be clipped to the camera for storage. It's a neat and well thought out design.

It is plastic (what isn't these days) so whilst it doesn't add weight and unbalance the camera, reasonable care has to be taken when fitting and removing it.

To be honest I can't say that I've noticed much improvement in picture quality (ironically I've been taking a lot of sunset shots recently and deliberately trying to create flares) but it's quick and simple to use so its now a standard part of the camera.
The main problem is the price, it is a lot of money for what you get and you can buy unbranded lens hoods for half the price but whether or not they are as good I cannot say.

4.0 out of 5 stars Heard but not seen, 27 July 2013

Don't know why but I expected them to be much bigger. However being compact is a bonus as they can get tucked away either side of the computer screen and visually fade into the background. Sound wise they are perfectly fine for general purpose computer use, just don't expect them to match your Hi-Fi speakers.
One slight criticism is that for me the leads are a bit short but I have the computer tower set away from the screens and keyboard.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the tin, 22 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It was bought as a replacement for my father's existing router and we had quite a lot of problems initially setting this up. Got off on the wrong foot because there was some confusion as to the broadband user name and passwords (long forgotten). then by the time that we'd got these sorted out, courtesy of Virgin's not so helpful helpline, the Netgear setup wizard was no longer active. This proved somewhat difficult to reactivate due to the not very clear minimal documentation provided by Netgear. However once we'd got the installation wizard back up and running and then entered the correct info everything worked as a charm and we quickly had a broadband connection. Due to the type of wireless dongle on the PC (we're using the old one) we're not seeing any increase in performance but the new netgear unit is proving to be more reliable that the old unit it has replaced.

The new router comes with pre set security which is both good and is still simple enough to allow you to easily connect tablets etc (the old router was unsecured and my father had never quite worked out how to set up the security)

As long as you have all the correct broadband user names and passwords installation is easy but if you do hit a snag you might be struggling with the Netgear documentation to find a solution.

for the price it would have been good if Netgear had thrown in a matching dongle for the PC. As it is whilst it seems a good piece of kit it does appear difficult to say why this unit is a better buy than a TP unit at £20 less.

I travel a lot for both business and pleasure and am now weighed down with laptop, tablet, DSLR, phone and even a little mp3 player. (Going through airport security is a real pain). Everything either has it's own charger or needs a battery charger unit and even if you have all the UK/US plug adapters does the hotel or exhibition hall have all the sockets you need. Problem solved with this unit
