Travel Madrid, Spain 2012 - Illustrated Guide, Phrasebook & Maps. (Mobi Travel)
Travel Madrid, Spain 2012 - Illustrated Guide, Phrasebook & Maps. (Mobi Travel)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great format for Kindle, and an informative guide, 15 Nov. 2011
This guide is well laid out and easily navigable on the Kindle, with useful hyperlinks within articles to other relevant articles and to maps. The index is also hyperlinked, which means that information is easy to find and readily accessible. I liked the fact that it includes details on opening days and times of museums, as well as admission prices and closest metro stops.

The tube map is displayed across sevaral pages in the zoom mode.
The attractions map, while not detailed, is useful for seing at a glance where the top attractions are in relation to oneanother in order to plan itineraries. Links to more detailed maps are provided throughout, which you can take advantage of if you are able to connect to the internet. I was not able to connect to the internet whilst out and about as my Kindle is not 3G, but the lack of (accessible) detailed maps was not a major issue as I just picked up a pocket map from tourist information. In any case, having an actual physical map is probably more useul. Everything else that you need is there, including a phrase book, and I found that having the book on the Kindle was much easier than carrying around a conventional hard-copy guide book. Obviously you lose out on the glossy colour pictures, but there are still plenty of pictures included and I was impressed with the clarity.

Apart from the fact that it is optimised for Kindle, the guide actually reads very well too, with interesting background, history and culture explained, as well as a lot of detail about the attractions.

Daewoo KOR638RDSL 20 Litre 800w Duo Plate Microwave Silver

5.0 out of 5 stars Good all-rounder, 13 July 2008
I bought this microwave about 8 months ago, and am very happy with its performance. The menus are easy to use, there are 2 defrost settings - one based on weight and one based on time - and it looks good, too! Excellent value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good as a route guide, but not for planning, 13 July 2008
This is a fantastic route guide, with good descriptions of the coast path and what to look out for on the way (it works North to South, so from Cardigan to Tenby, so some of the narrative would not be as useful if you are walking in the opposite direction). There are clear ordnance survey maps included, obvioulsy useful regardless of in which direction you tackle the path, and very thorough historical accounts, plus descriptions of the natural geography of specific areas along the path.

This is not, however, a planning tool. It does give some distance guides, but there is not any real information about places to stay, places to eat, or public transport - please see Pembrokeshire Coast Path (Pembrokeshire Coast Path: Amroth to Cardigan) if you need a book that will help you to plan your holiday. In my opinion these two books compliment eachother very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't plan your route without it!, 13 July 2008
This book is an absolute gem. It contains practical advice on what to take, distances between certain key towns & villages, a chart showing basic details of facilities at the main towns & villages (such as cash points, food stores, post offices, whether there are places to eat & stay, etc), and an overview of pubic transport.

There book then splits the path into several sections so that it can detail specific route guidance information and maps for each section. There is a description of the main towns and villages which you will pass on each section, plus any local tourist attractions. This includes reviews and contact details (including e-mail and web addresses where available) of a variety of different accommodation options available in each place, along with price guides. In addition you will also find here names and contact details of places to eat, sometimes also offering a bit of extra information about them if they are especially recommended. Details of taxi companies offering baggage transfer services appear on some of the town description pages, although I feel this could have been given more attention as a section in its own right, and the areas covered by each company made a little clearer.

So with this book you can decide which part of the path you would like to walk, how far you want to go each day, which towns take your fancy to stop at overnight or to spend time at when passing through, where your public transport access points are, and whether or not you are going to need a packed lunch!

There is some information on wildlife and fauna, but a more detailed guide to the wildlife, geology and history of each part of the coast path can be found in Pembrokeshire Coast Path (National Trail Guides) (National Trail Guides)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast, effective and no allergens!, 13 July 2008
A perfect solution for anyone allergic to bite creams. It really works. I got nicked by a thorn whilst out walking, and the whole area was very itchy and swelled up quite badly. 5 clicks of this, and it stopped itching. The swelling even went down completely after about 10 minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can use this bubble bath even if you have Eczema!, 13 July 2008
I love this stuff - I have had Eczema all of my life, and am stuck with the same boring prescribed bath oils which don't foam. However, I have absolutely no problems with this product - and I love the bubbles! I think it might even help soothe my skin. It certainly does not sting, make me itch or leave a rash - and I am very intollerant to most products, even soaps. So even if you have very sensitive skin, give this a go - you will be pleasantly surprised.

5.0 out of 5 stars The easy & enjoyable way to learn a language for holiday use, 13 July 2008
As someone who has studied languages to degree level and also taught foreign languages in secondary school, it would be fair to say that I am generally sceptical of DIY langauage teaching CDs - and often with good cause. However, Earworms CDs are an absolutely invaluable learning resource. They will equip you, with minimal effort on your part, with a basic understanding of the language building blocks - which coupled with vocab covering the usual holiday scenarios, such as ordering drinks, food, buying things, counting, etc, will enable you to begin to start to extrapolate from what you have heard on the CD and, with the help of a dictionary, build your own sentences to meet your specific needs. Some grammar is explained - just enough to help with exactly what I've just said above - but not too much to be overwhelming.

I would thoroughly recommend these CDs to anyone who wants just 'holiday' language, or to anyone who is wishing to study the language in greater depth but would like a gentle introduction first.

The learning process is stress-free and fun. These CDs are so easy to listen to, as the background tracks are non-intrusive, rhythmical, and really do help to nudge the words and phrases into your memory. Everything is repeated several times, with one presenter speaking English and the other saying the same things in the target language. Everything is delivered in time to the music, which aids recollection later, there is good use of humour now and then, and all phrases are broken down so that you can see exactly how they have been made up. The emphasis is on repetition, so there is no feeling that things are moving too quickly. The idea is that you just relax, rather than straining to follow a fast-moving coaching CD. It really does work - once you have listed to the CD a few times, you will find you are remembering whole phrases.
