5.0 out of 5 stars LIfe's a dream....., 21 Feb. 2007
This review is from: Life Is A Stream (Audio CD)
Life is a stream by Chuck and Mary Prerrin is nothing short of an understated masterpiece. It's a quite beautiful collection of fully realised musical daydreams. The orchestrations of Hoyt Jones give what would have been simple acoustic songs a rousing sensual quality, and as the sleevenotes rightly say, it does remind of a Nick Drake or Judee Sill album....but sunnier. As an avid music fan with hundreds of albums from this era, I cant recommend this album enough. If you like positive, acoustic music with a feel of breezy sunny days then look no further...and the fact that your reading this would suggest your interested, so give it a go!!!...and enjoy this wonderful record.

5.0 out of 5 stars Working up that groove!!, 27 Dec. 2006
This review is from: Working Man's Soul (Audio CD)
What a belter! This is one groovy, hipshaking mother of an album. These are gritty, honest records. Dripping in Brut 33, bad shirt and ties, dodgy beer stained carpets and boozy Friday nights 'down the club'. Very funky. Great for a party and a laugh...see you there!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wellers best, honest., 26 Oct. 2006
This review is from: Paul Weller (Audio CD)
This is the connoisseurs Weller album. This is his best. Wildwood and Stanley Road are great, but this is his best. I think Weller sounds most comfortable when the songs are lighter. Revelling in his first love.. soul music. Even in the Jam the records improved when there was more of a groove (hear Sound affects, The Gift). To look deeper, listen to the production on this album and to the same extent Wildwood compared to the clunky, stodgy rock of his later albums. Paul Weller is a great singer..honest. and it's audible more here than any other solo effort. A still young artist revelling in his new found freedom, this is Weller full of enthusiasm and sounding fresh and once again a vital force.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece!!, 8 Oct. 2006
This review is from: Small Circle Of Friends (Audio CD)
Playing this wonderful album will benifit your life, I promise. It will release you from any small discomforts you may have, and transport you to an imaginary 1960's californian sun-soaked world. Oh yes, it's that good. Dreamy melodies and harmonies colide and melt the senses. 'Kinda wasted without you' is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Yes, to the cynical it may appear slightly twee, but I believe in that holds it's charm. Embrace it. If you are new to the sunshine-pop genre, welcome friend, dont be scared. You might as well start at the very top with this album..enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars you've gotto love 'im, 2 July 2006
This review is from: Slim Chance (Audio CD)
Ronnie Lanes Slim Chance is a thing if rare beauty.. Its a crafty little album full of hope and jovial times. The mans spirit and enduring charm shines through each and every song, whether it be one of the covers or his own material.

This album evokes a summers evening with your best mates, loved ones and a barrel of the finest, all washed down with one of this countries greatest and most sadly missed treasures...three cheers for Ronnie!!!
