5.0 out of 5 stars From making paper into fur, to dressing like a fossil, 25 Mar. 2015
This book is a clever and imaginatively presented book with not a single “how to” anywhere. Instead its all about real drawing approaches, innovative ways with marks, seeing everyday objects in a new light, sometime literally, as in “Drawing by Torch Light”
From quick playful warm ups to extended creative sessions, it accommodates a range of levels and needs, not only suitable for children. In her notes for facilitators the author dares to suggest that drawing sometimes requires focusing, just like maths. Buy this book for yourself and the creative people young and old, in your life, its whats been missing in art curriculums ! I love it and will use it often.

5.0 out of 5 stars heart felt creativity, 22 May 2012
This review is from: Creating Felt Pictures (Paperback)
In this slight book Andrea Hunter explains with great photos and pictures throughout how to draw and paint with felt. She is generous with sharing her own processes and methodology; which are a world away from the whimsy with which felt is often associated.
It is written from the heart sharing her real passion for rural arts and crafts and with her subject Wensleydale landscape and .. sheep. It provides practical information about working with fleece and picture making so that a beginner can follow, but also would give a good basis for other textile and fine artists. well worth the money ! Or even better go on one of her courses if you get the chance.

4.0 out of 5 stars birds? and butterflies, 12 Aug. 2011
Like her first book which nudged me into taking up crochet again after years; this book is packed with lovely designs clearly explained and beautifully illustrated. I also started doodling with crochet (using some of her methods) to make birds. Despite the title there are only two birds to make in this book, so I was a bit disappointed because it was patterns for bird motifs I was after to extend my repertoire. It would be good if she included some techniques about how to attach motifs together too. Some of the butterflies and leaves are bit similar to her first book and could be worked from that, so I felt i didn't need both books. There are also fish and marine life which aren't mentioned in the title but feature more prominently than the birds.
