1.0 out of 5 stars Pointless CD-ROM and uninteresting/unsuitable topics covered in book., 25 Oct. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
After 5 years of taking French night classes, this is by far the worst and least apt text book I have encountered.
Two main gripes:-
1) The exercises and answers in the accompanying CD-ROM do not relate to the listening exercises and questions in the text book. To hear those you need to purchase the Teacher's edition, currently priced here at £79.05.
2) The book is geared up for 16-18 year olds, who I suppose are the age group most likely to be at A level standard. A flick through the first few pages we get subjects covered like, skateboard culture, emo culture, chat rooms, 'my son the drug user', underage drinking, cannabis, video games etc etc. The French learning level is correct, but the topics covered are not suitable or interesting for an adult learning class, I can't speak for sixth formers for whom this book is aimed at.

Trouble is, I'm stuck with this book for the academic year and have had to buy it, because it has been chosen for us by our night-school. I've also had to shell out for the Teacher's edition so I can play the listening exercises heard in class again at my own leisure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Originals, 21 Jan. 2013
This review is from: TV Tunes (MP3 Download)
These are the original tracks, as heard on the TV.
Some of which not available elsewhere.
Very pleasing to find an album of TV themes that is NOT full of inferior cover versions.

More please!

5.0 out of 5 stars Colemanballs16 and Dumb Britain 3 in one book, 2 Jan. 2013
This review is from: Eyeballs (Private Eye) (Hardcover)
If you're looking for Colemanballs edition 16 and can't find it, don't despair. This is it, kind of. It's called Commentatorballs now. The name change coinciding with creator and long-time compiler Bary Fantoni's retirement combined with the realisation that not all readers will know who David Coleman, the original inspiration for the series, is.

If you're looking for Dumb Britain edition 3. This is also it. Flip the book over and the other half is Dumb Britain, a collection of daft answers from UK quiz shows.

The two sections meet in the middle.

Anyway, five stars from me. Because it's two books that I know and love combined into one volume.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value, 15 April 2011
They do the trick, good value for money. Just plugged them in and they worked. Better than my previous speakers in that it's one less mains electricity socket used.
If I were to say one thing about them it would be that the quietest setting is not that quiet, if you're doing stuff late at night and want to keep the noise down. Mostly, but not always, you can adjust the volume control on the software that you're using them with, so not so much a problem.
