Jim Dunlop 47PEJ3N Eric Johnson Signature Jazz Pick Player Pack (Pack of 6)
Jim Dunlop 47PEJ3N Eric Johnson Signature Jazz Pick Player Pack (Pack of 6)
Price: £5.49

5.0 out of 5 stars The New Originals, 27 Mar. 2015

I have been using these Johnson signature picks for a while now and they have a much better feel than the modern standard 'reds' which another reviewer has rightly pointed are a wee bit smaller and have a more slippery feel. These however are made from a different material (far more similar to the old recipe) and have a better grip surface produced by the raised lettering on both sides. As Dunlop and Johnson intended these practically replicate the feel of the original red Jazz III's. I can confirm this because I still have a couple of originals from the late 70's. So these could be called the new originals. Now where have I heard that before?
Try them. If nothing else they'll add a touch of colour to your playing. Arf, arf.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Compressor in its Bracket and Beyond., 5 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
You'll find that once you have found your favourite setting you'll keep it there and the unit will be on most of the time doing its job while you do yours. This is a very good compressor regardless of price but seeing as I've mentioned it, at the time of writing it is approx half the price of the Boss CS-3 but easily twice as good - I have both but maybe not for long! The Main Squeeze has been described elsewhere as 'transparent' meaning it does not colour your tone. This is true and nor does it make the attack of the pick sound overly "clicky". The Boss CS-3 sadly does both and also noticeably "pumps" the note if the sustain is past midway. The Digitech will pump but only with levels pushed much further. With a four hour battery life a suitable power supply is highly recommended but it is worth investing in one considering the quality of this compression. Look at it this way; four longlife copper-tops equals a Digitech PS200R if you shop around and you won't get the signal degradation as is the case when a battery starts to die.
Three general notes for those new to compressors:
1) Your compressor should be first in any effect pedal chain.
2) Compressors work most effectively on single coil pickups so if you have a guitar equipped with humbuckers be sure to try one out before you buy to avoid any disappointment. Try both types of guitar, single and humbucker, with a compressor and you'll notice the difference.
3) Use your ears and the grey matter between them. If you believe even a fraction of the internet postings (mostly from the other side of the Atlantic) relating to guitar effect pedals you'll think anything under the equivalent of a small mortgage and not hand wired by pixies in germanium mines involving foil and oil caps, orange drops and tropical fish (no really!) and scripted in elvish and sporting as many knobs as the box can handle and of course with true by-pass, is useless. Yeah right.

5.0 out of 5 stars As near to the original Red Jazz III as possible but better., 27 Sept. 2014

It's worth paying just a little extra for the signature Eric Johnson picks in preference to the standard red Jazz III. They have a better feel and grip and better material compared to the newer standard reds. These are almost like the old originals which is what JD and Johnson set out to recreate. I know because I still have a couple of originals but the grip surface on the EJ Classic is even better. Excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kinsman case for 335 style semi acoustic guitars, 16 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Unbeatable value for £55.41 when I bought it but still good at full price. This case is well made and fits my guitar perfectly. I have another Kinsman case for an acoustic guitar and the quality is consistently high. This case is to protect my guitar out on the road but not literally of course as that would be silly - see below. It is as it states a case for 335 style semi acoustic guitars and owners of other more jazz-like style guitars should be aware that their guitar will be deeper in the body so measure up before you order. The lining inside (where else would it be?) is the pink (see pic) similar to classic Gibbo cases and there is plenty of padding to protect the guitar from most mishaps barring of course stupidity - you know, things like leaving it in the road for the van to back over or dropping a 4x12 cab or a piano from a great height on to it.

Assorted Grommets (31-Pack)

5.0 out of 5 stars Grommets suitable for Boss Pedals, 27 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
One of the sizes supplied in this pack works very well as a replacement for the ones used on Boss guitar effect pedals which eventually wear out making the pedal clunk when operated and will eventually damage the battery access screw. Pop one of these in and bingo, good as new. Stomptastic!

This is a mix of short strips and longer stories. All very funny, at least the children and I think so. If you like Charlie Brown you'll know the score. If you don't like Charlie Brown why are you reading this?

5.0 out of 5 stars Jim Dunlop Ultex Jazz III Picks, 27 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought these after having bought some standard red nylon Jazz III's to compare (separate review). These are made from a different material - a very hard wearing type of plastic and have virtually no flex at all. The red Jazz III's have a little bit of flex to them, not much, but enough if you don't want a rigid pick. The Ultex are slightly transparent straw coloured and will get lost more easily if dropped but it helps to keep JD in business. Like everything else in life, the choice of pick, strings, strap, guitar etc is all down to ones personal preference. I like these and the standard nylon Jazz III and you too may also find that once you get used to the smaller size and response against the strings your picking may become more accurate. Hope this helps.
