5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling, 11 Oct. 2011
Well... I couldn't put the book down and read it from cover to cover in a day. The descriptions within the book as to the location are amazingly detailed and brilliantly described, creating a solid mental image of where the characters are based. I love how the book has the element of a ghost story but doesn't have to rely on it to make it a compelling read. The writing is wonderful, sparse and precise. Mr Warren doesn't use a dozen words where one will do and I really admire him for this
It shows the lead character metamorphosis gradually from insecure person whose faced a rough phase in his life caught up in all the hype of his own problems to transcend into the actual reality of what he begins to face, the acceptance of situations which incompass not only reality but the supernatural as well as he realises he has to fight for not only his life and sanity but for those he has come to care for. This book plays on fear, human fear, fear of being alone and the fear when you realise you're not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Passionate, 5 Mar. 2010
If you're passionate about British trees then you'll be passionate about this book.
The author is obviously extremely knowledgeable about tree's & nature - and it's great that he has passed his extendable know how onto us who have little knowledge, but would love to know more
It's great for taking with you on walks to indentify tree's, even on camping trip's to light a camp fire (obviously ensuring all safety measures are undertaken)
This was the first book I bought from this author & now own a few more (& will hopefully own more in the future)
Buy this book you'll love it x

The Hatters Go West!
The Hatters Go West!
by Piers Warren
Edition: Paperback
Price: £5.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing & Exhilarating, 5 Mar. 2010
This review is from: The Hatters Go West! (Paperback)
One of the best children's books I have ever read & it's been a long time since I was a child
The characters are so life like & the dad really reminds me of someone I know.
It was so easy to imagine myself driving along & experiencing all the Hatters adventures that they in-counted on the way, from one side of the country to the other with a van full to bursting with animals
This book is absolutely brilliant & I think the author should write more adventures for the Hatters

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, 4 Mar. 2010
I've found this book absolutely clear & informative for step by step procedures for storing & preserving excess garden produce. It's easy to understand, even for the novice gardener like myself - none of the instructions are too complicated to follow from storing potatoes to wine making.
It covers produce that are commonly grown to today's gardens/allotments however large or small the plot may be.
The recipes are wonderful & are certainly worth a try even if you aren't a gardener.
I would recommend this very clever book to gardeners & cook's alike.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissappointed - norfolk, 5 July 2006
Great fan of david eddings, but very dissappointed in these books. I think Leigh eddings wrote these and david just added his name to sell them, as they are not even writtern in the same style as his earlier books.
