Great Movie (except for 25 mins middle section where the heroes are trying to escape a prison) but the girl is beautiful, Orson Welles the Muslim villain, o.t.t., Tyrone Powers in hero mode and Jack Hawkins the wiser older guy the girl still thinks is a bit cute. Oh, Mother !

5.0 out of 5 stars New Mad Rid written by a bear, 2 April 2008
This beautifully illustrated children's book should first be read by the purchaser as it is quite lovely account of the first recorded earthquake in the the 20 year old United States. So vast was the earthquake that it was felt from New Orleans to Detroit and the bells of Boston peeled . It woke the author from his hibernation and made him not a just bit concerned for his safety.

2.0 out of 5 stars way-out of date edition, 16 Aug. 2007
This DVD is of a VHS released in 1988, Randall Adams was released from prison less than 24 months after this documentary was made, almost wholly due to the making of this documentary . It is a shame that when you view the documentary, you gain the idea that Randall Adams is still behind bars. There should have been an epilogue to reveal to viewers the success that the film maker had on subsequent state review of the incarcerant's cirmumstances and evidence. Also, that the second figure in the program, David Harris, was found guilty and executed for a separate murder.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much for so little, 2 Mar. 2006
When I was first dipping my toes into Mountain Music, I was a bit wary of Bill Monroe. His intros seemed clipped, I had read somewhere that he changed his band members quite frequently . But the more I listened to this type of country, the more Mr. Monroe kept appearing. Then I read a short biography about him and I then understood what I was skirting. He had a quite strict upbringing and music was his first and greatest release. The BlueGrass Boys are the embodiment of a gaggle of musicians searching for recording and radio acceptance and success. The recordings are as much a part of American history as anything else. The timeless way these recordings can tell you about the particular period, say the thirties and forties and fifties, in areas like West Virgina, Kentucky and others.
Great Stuff, friends and neighbors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absorbing and Warm, 2 Mar. 2006
This review is from: Random Harvest (Paperback)
When this book was published in 1943, it was greeted with very enthusiastic reviews. James Hilton's previous two books (both turned into films very quickly) were Lost Horizon and Goodby, Mr. Chips. As was this . The book deals with the affects of war on an aging, but vibrant gentleman who is recalling his almost catastrophic experiences during the Great War, looking broodingly towards the future in November, 1938. A rare gem .
