An utter disgrace, 18 April 2006
Like other reviewers have noted, this is the same appalling DVD transfer as the original release. Whereas the VHS and televised version was rich in colour, the DVD transfer is stripped of all warmth. It is hard to understand how the BBC could release this once, let alone twice, this time as a '10th Anniversary Edition'. It should have been titled the '10th Memorial Edition'. What must the producers and actors think of this criminal act ? Considering it is one of the most beloved BBC productions, the BBC should hang their heads in disgrace at what amounts to misrepresentation. If you have the original DVD, don't throw any more money away - this is no better. Revert to old technology and buy a VHS player and the VHS tapes - that way you will be able to see this production as it was intended. Shame BBC, shame.
