Hunter
Hunter
Price: £1.99

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like thrillers, detective novels, 18 Sept. 2017

This review is from: Hunter (Kindle Edition)
Worthy of a wider audience Hunter is on the face of it another cop, serial killer book. However ML Stewart weaves a story that has so many twists and turns, that at times it seems obvious to you what is happening, but not to the police on the page.
In Liz Porteus we have an ambitious detective, but one who would secretly be writing about crime than investigating it. The storyline has a fresh modern feel to it, with one of the most sinister sociopaths, that will genuinely scare you.
You wat to race to the end off the book, but don't want the book to finish.
If you like thrillers, detective novels, murder mystery, or a good story with believable characters you will not be disappointed. ML Stewart is a writer who consistently delivers good stories.

Redemption (Jane Perry Mysteries Book 2)
Redemption (Jane Perry Mysteries Book 2)

5.0 out of 5 stars but it is too good book not to read, 24 Jun. 2017

There is something about the detective Jane Perry, that sets her apart from the many hundreds over other police and detective main characters. As well as a vulnerability, and a past she cannot seem to shake free from, her expertise is in looking for missing children, and being able to extract information from children that other cops don't manage.
Bordering on almost having an unexplained talent, or a sixth sense, Jane embarks on a journey to find a missing child. Jane is working alone, and any help she gets along the way will not be through the conventional routes.

You don't have to have read Protector, the first Jane Perry novel, this is not really a sequel, but it is too good book not to read. If theres one thing a Jane Perry book tells you it is that life is not fair. Looking forward to reading the next Laurel Dewey novel

The Demon Queen and The Locksmith
The Demon Queen and The Locksmith
Price: £2.80

5.0 out of 5 stars Surreal story for young adults upwards, 20 Mar. 2017

I read a lot of books, and have done so for many a year. I am not sure I have ever read a book like this, and don't expect to ever again. That doesn't make it a bad book, I thoroughly enjoyed it but it got more surreal as the book went on. A group of people hear noises called the hum, coming from a local mountain which is believed to have mystic powers.
One boy whose Dad can hear the hum has a chance encounter in a local park with two other children one a conspiracy theorist , and like is going to get a lot stranger from hereonin.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get the job done and get out, 20 Mar. 2017

The war on terrorism is failing. Too many forms to be completed boxes to tick etc. The problem needs to be eliminated, but we are not allowed to work that way anymore. But what if you had an elite group no one knew about, no records, no files, no instructions, just get the job done and get out.

Paid in Blood (Military NCIS Book 1)
Paid in Blood (Military NCIS Book 1)
Price: £2.84

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read overall, 20 Mar. 2017

I have never watched NCIS so can only review the book under its own merits. A good read overall. Part forensic investigation part action thriller, lots of action going on. The characters in the book were believable and flawed, lets face it most of us are. The Christian message, while not an issue for me rather than being interwoven within the story , seemed almost to take place as advert breaks within the book. That said, it doesn't pull any punches there are enough gritty situations and the good guys don't always win through , again like real life. Definitely going to read the next one

5.0 out of 5 stars A really good story with believable characters, 5 Jun. 2016

This review is from: Uprising (Kindle Edition)
A really good story with believable characters, some of whom are extremely liable, and several who are not.
Although a vampire book, and Mariani admits to paying homage to Dracula throughout the book, this is neither an out and out fantasy, nor is it a fairy story.

These are vampires in a modern world, with their own supreme council, rules, and punishment for rogue vampires. One of the main characters is a police detective who had an experience with vampires many years ago, and suspects they are involved in these latest crimes, but is hardly something he can discuss down the station.

The book is an easy read without too many characters or plot deviations, and as several other reviewers have said, once you start reading it, very difficult to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Are you desperate enough to join the Sunday club, 31 Mar. 2016

A great book. You can almost visualise Danny Dyer and Jason Statham running around in the film version. A nice simple story about different people on their uppers and desperate. So desperate they would turn to crime. The most unlikely bedfellows you will ever read but a really good British gangster book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good machine that fits the bill, 31 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have deliberately waited a few months before reviewing this. It was bought for a ten year old, who although savvy enough for a laptop, I didn't want the expense of a laptop. Happy with the decision and the chromebook. For those not in the know a chromebook is web based, without a DVD slot of office programmes.
Lift the lid and your away. My son uses is for homework research (yeah right) and You tube. For watching movies through Netflix and listening to movies.
He uses google docs for homework, and it is small enough to take out with us in the car.
Fairly robust product and has spent more time on than off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Waterloo Road Great drama but send your kids elsewhere, 31 Mar. 2016

I love Waterloo Road. I grew up with Grange Hill which was too gritty at the time. This is real school life warts and all, good teachers, bad teachers, teachers more immature than the students. Great acting by the students, drama, comedy and some really good plot lines make this a box set yu will want to finish the day you watch the first episode
