5.0 out of 5 stars It does a great job., 7 April 2017

Have bought this three times now. Sure I replace after about three years for wear and tear but for the price I think that's fair enough. It does a great job.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Five Years set at least had a really good Recall section and a very nice booklet, 7 April 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having been a big enough mug to buy the Five Years box set of albums I already had, (albeit at a reduced price), I eventually bought this after waiting for a similar price drop which didn't happen. My main reason was that I really wanted the remix of Station to Station that just isn't available elsewhere. (It was only previously available in the now deleted superdeluxe STS reissue.) It goes without saying I'd give five stars to this for the music but the overall feeling I get from this is just being taken for a fool. The Five Years set at least had a really good Recall section and a very nice booklet. The booklet in this does not have such interesting articles and the Recall disc is pretty medicore. (Who wants a four minute edit of Station to Station?) You get the original single mix of Rebel Rebel, you get a lovely previously unreleased version of Can You Hear Me, an inferior unreleased version of Right and the superlative Harry Maslin remix of Station to Station. Other than that it's just what you've already got, unless of course you haven't already got it in which case you'd be giving this an emphatic five star review.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great documentary of a historic occasion, 7 April 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A great documentary of a historic occasion. It has the unusual formula of placing a litle vignette between each song which would normally irritate for breaking the continuity of the concert but it works well here. Each little story is basically about how significant the Beatles were in the Soviet Union and anyone who visited in the pre-Glasnost era, (like me), could confirm that truth. As for the music it is brilliant - obviously the songs are to begin with but they are also well played by an excellent band and Paul is in good voice. I am also pleased that he has resisted the temptation to airbrush Heather Mills out of the film.

Five stars for the music of course and it would be excellent value for someone new to Bowie just starting their collection. For the lifelong fan who already has all of this there is little here to justify the price but it is nonetheless a nice package. It's nice to read the reviews of the albums reproduced from NME and so on as well. On the other hand there could have been so much more memorabilia added not to mention a DVD of footage from the era or outtakes and demos like the Ryko discs way back when.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant release from the worlds greatest rock n roll band, 11 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A brilliant release from the worlds greatest rock n roll band. Perhaps the last really raw performance that we'll see from them with minimal backing musicians and best of all Keith doing the backing vocals. Later tours delivered polished and professional performances that were glorious in their own way but this is the real deal. The energy level is off the scale - Jagger in particular is superlative!

I was at the first of the two nights this is filmed from so it's a very special memory for me. Regardless of whether you were there or not this is Queen at their absolute best. Every one of them is really at the top of their game, Freddie especially was never better. Much more of a hard rock edge than the later and more popular incarnation of the band and as good as they remained, (I do love the Innuendo album at the very end), I never saw them again after this show and never particularly wanted to. This was their peak.
