Sif Safaa: New Music From Middle East
Sif Safaa: New Music From Middle East
Offered by westworld-
Price: £5.41

4.0 out of 5 stars introducing a new world of rythmn, 2 May 2001
A good basic starting point if you are interested in mid-east music. The album has a good mix of style from North Africa and there should be something here to suit all tastes, although I have my personal favourites I found that you don't really get bored by this album as you do with so many others. Essential part of any collection, but beware of people nicking it and never returning it again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tissues at the ready!, 5 April 2001
This review is from: Mera Naam Joker [DVD] [1970] (DVD)
If you don't choke back a single tear in this melodrama then Raj Kapoor has failed. You see, this film seems to have been written for its perpetual ability to dissolve you into a tearful mess only to sustain you until another bought of crying. However at the end of which you feel throughly de-toxed. Enjoy!

So, we have a 007 type who is out to get organised crime and his alter ego who is disorganised crime personified. When the police officer is injured and the latter is caught, a elaborate plan to hoodwink the bad guys is hatched. The twist comes when the 'crim' falls for the cop's fiance and the bad guys start to realise that there is something fishy going on!

4.0 out of 5 stars Love conquers all!, 5 April 2001
This review is from: Bobby [DVD] [NTSC] (DVD)
A poor little rich boy is befriended by a fisherman's daughter, only to fall in love with her, thereby challenging the status-quo of asian society. Little has changed with regards to an age old formula, however the package is continuously modified. This is the '72 version which, if not timeless is still a classic!

5.0 out of 5 stars A truffle of innocence, flavoured with a little empathy., 3 April 2001
If films were like chocolates then this would indeed be a truffle. It's content is a wonderfully whipped mixture of childhood and drama, at the centre of which is a sweet little gem of an actress. The characters are wholly believable and interesting and although it is in Farsi somehow this does not distance you from the experiences on screen. We all know that a child's world is fascinating, but rarely do we enter it in a way that this film allows. You will not just feel the emotions of how important a goldfish can be, but also feel the anticipation that most have not felt since they were six. Enjoy this morsel of empathy!!!
