This review is from: Runemarks (Kindle Edition)
A standard fantasy book following the usual themes, there were no interesting characters to get into or plot twists. If you're looking for a book to hook you, this is not it.

An interesting invention, classic fantasy where the author has let his imagination run wild. The book as usual is better than the film and worth a read even if you've seen the film first.

Average fantasy book with the usual clichés, well written and some good characters but not a book that gets you hooked - a nice read but not at the top level of fantasy writing

What a book! It was going to be a hard task keeping up the standard from the last book, but that was definitely achieved here. I love the characters in this series and the way that some of the 'good' characters have ended up on the wrong side of the conflict. This is just a fantastic series to read and I can't wait for the next book!

Wow promising start to what could be an amazing trilogy, this is an unusual book as it throws you straight into the thick of the action with very little build up and you quickly get to know the intriguing characters quickly. The author leaves you guessing with some of the characters and you have no idea whether they are good or bad or what their motives are (which makes the book all the more interesting!). I recommend this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series.

A nice read of lots of the big scientific theories intermixed with humour and without too much technical jargon. I would recommend this book to anybody who is interested in science as a nice background read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant follow on from the first book, 13 Sept. 2014

Another brilliant follow on from the first book! I love the style that Anthony Ryan writes in beginning each section of the book by an insert from a scholar. The characters are also amazing and you won't be disappointed if you read this book.
