Leggo molte storia a mia figlia.
Questo libro, preso a caso, e' brutto.
La storia e' breve e confusa. Sembra scritto da un bambino di 8/10 anni. Ma uno di quelli a cui gli si dice "tu sei piu' una mente scentifica"

I am not english. I had a digital radio in the kitchen, always switched on while cooking.
Now I have replaced that digital radio with this new toy and I can listen to the stations from the country where I am from.
Brilliant.

4.0 out of 5 stars surprisingly good., 5 Jan. 2011

I spent a few hours on the net looking for reviews on those tools.
I found very little.
Then I took the risk and decided to buy it.

There are a few bad points (hence I can't give 5 stars):

The bad points:
- The headphones plug is on the right side of the device. (which is silly)
- I can't find any place on the net where to upgrade to new firmware (should I need to)
- when you browse folders it plays an annoying beep as you move up and down.
- the default background is ugly and I can't find a way to get rid of it.

The rest is all good points.
In random order:

- played every video format I had (avi, large avi 1.5gb, mp4,flv,...). Yes, it played FLV.
- the audio is good also without speakers.
- it is a real plug/play device.
- it's very very light (hence portable)
- its price is extremely competitive. E.g. Much cheaper than a cowon device.

Wilderness
Wilderness

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the Roddy Doyle that I knew, 4 Dec. 2010
This review is from: Wilderness (Paperback)
First of all let me start with saying that for me Roddy Doyle is a genius.
I loved his early books: The commitments,The snapper,The van.

The story he could make up, the language, his ireland, all coming out naturally from him to me (the reader).

I read the wilderness.
Where is the roddy doyle I liked ?
There are a few sparks when johnny and tom talked to each other, if I really looked hard.
Nothing in there. A boring and predictable story.
More than boring, annoying.
What's going on with their old sister and her real mother ?
Disperse chapters unveil a story with nothing in it.
A mother abandons her young daughter, comes back many years later and say I am kinda sorry with an american accent.
if you like Doyle avoid it all cost.
If you want your children to like doyle one day tell them to read something else.

2.0 out of 5 stars annoying writing style., 2 July 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It took me a while to decide which one of the 2 or 3 books on Prototype to choose from. I read the various reviews , compare prices, page numbers,
and then eventually I chose this one. Mainly because I kinda trusted the
"pragmatic programmers" series.

"Wrong Choice I guess."
The book's coverage is poor and the writing style is terribly irritating:
what a waste of words..."
You will read constantly things like:
"by now you should be on the edge of your sit but before we go any further..." "if that isn't cool for an example..."
"if you are wondering what the heck is wrong with this..."
and "one of the reasons is done in this way is because I don't like php"

poor. Very poor.
it gets two stars instead of one ...because I have not finished it yet and
I am assuming it gets better towards the end...

Java Concurrency in Practice

5.0 out of 5 stars great introduction to Java's concurrency API, 28 Jun. 2007
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you are serious about java development you know you can't ignore threads.

Yet, so many skilled developers incredibly passionate about object orientation seem uneasy when confronted with threading-issues.

Is i++ an atomic operation ? Have you ever heard of CopyOnWriteArrayList ?

Do you know how to deal with InterruptedException ?

This is a very readable book which will make sure not only that your code will not deadlock but that you know why.
