5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tarantino movie., 10 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Easily one of the best movies that Tarantino has released and an entertaining, engaging film about the past. More than that, it shines an uncomfortable and honest look at racial attitudes and bigotry, something as relevant today as fifty years ago. Plenty of wit, fantastic performances all around and some classic Tarantino violence. All-around great entertainment and a worthy winner of its two Oscars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heaven scent gift., 4 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A present for my Mum for Mother's Day, she's a bit of a Gaga fan and so this present went down a treat: the scent is wonderfully soft, fruity and gentle whilst not being so overly 'feminine' as to dissipate from the senses immediately. The descriptions on the back are equally cool, with the aesthetic that Gaga has honed coming out in full force and making this a fantastic gift for the fan in your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a listen..., 4 May 2013

Brilliantly funny set from one of my favourite but little-appreciated commediennes. Jo Caulfield is acerbically witty, wondrously funny and has a real knack for telling stories that make us cringe, gasp and, above else and always, laugh.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect film for a movie theory buff., 4 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Room 237 [DVD] (DVD)
As someone who occasionally indulges in reading into new and interesting theories about favoured films, Room 237 proved an immediate delight as it follows the theories, opinions and evidence of half a dozen fervent fans of Stanley Kubrick's classic horror adaptation, "The Shining".

It's a dizzingly daring trip down the rabbit hole and many of Kubrick's other work, themes, past and theories are explored - everything from his rumoured faking of the Moon landing, to the effects of the family in Eyes Wide Shut, to the idea that the entire film is the story of American colonisation and the raping of the Native American land. It's a fantastic, must-see film for any film fan and will make you take a good look at films and what they're actually maybe telling us...

5.0 out of 5 stars Radiant, reflective music for the soul., 4 May 2013

As a fan of Sigur Ros, I had heard of Jonsi but had never heard of his solo effort, despite it coming out a few years back - fortunately I stumbled across this a few months ago and haven't regretted buying it all. It's a stunning collection of beautiful alternative pop music that's delightful, sweet, sombre and peaceful in equal measure, swinging from the rambunctious 'Go Do' to the made-for-a-movie-trailer awe of 'Grow Till Taller'. Not a single song is weak and it's a rare album that I can listen to the whole way through.

An all-around success for Jonsi and a little-known classic that deserves to be sung from the highest of mountains somewhere. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book..., 4 May 2013

A fantastic book that speaks to a wonderfully simpler and perhaps more innocent time. Great quality of the book itself and some fantastic characters and lead heroines you can engage in and find both believable and likeable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bit of an anthem..., 28 Mar. 2013

A recent convert to Sleigh Bells' awesome blend of stomping, furiously brilliant lo-fi pop, my standout is Rill Rill - a fashion runway cousin song of strength and an alternative anthem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book with a lot to offer., 28 Mar. 2013

While the book isn't exactly a totally contemporary affair, it has a lot to offer and has a very positive message about self-acceptance, independence and is an antidote to the kind of books where having a relationship is the most important, defining thing about a person.

Recently being introduced to Fleetwood Mac, I'd definitely recommend this as a highlight - it's fun, it's slightly bonkers and really, very catchy.
