Samsung 16GB Class 10 UHS-1 Grade 1 80MB/s SDHC Pro Memory Card Bulk Pack
Samsung 16GB Class 10 UHS-1 Grade 1 80MB/s SDHC Pro Memory Card Bulk Pack

1.0 out of 5 stars Died after 3 weeks, 23 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The card began to fail after 3 weeks of careful use. I started getting write errors on a frequent basis and decided to reformat the card.

However, even the reformatting failed and the card is no longer usable. Its a shame because it was a very fast card, much faster than my old class 10 card, even in a USB2 card reader.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheaply made rubbish!, 23 Jun. 2013
Received ours as a present and it never worked at all. We re-installed the batteries to check they were correctly installed but still no luck. Looks and feels very cheaply made and is very flimsy. Can't believe it costs as much as it does. Although we never got to use ours it looks as though the interest level would be very short-lived.

Don't disappoint your kids, do them a favour and spend your hard-earned money on something they can get real value from!

Creative D100 Portable Bluetooth Wireless Speaker with Aux-in - Black
Creative D100 Portable Bluetooth Wireless Speaker with Aux-in - Black

3.0 out of 5 stars Good sound, but some problems, 23 Dec. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Creative D100 Bluetooth speakers provide good volume and sound quality for their size. Even the bass is sufficient unless you like your music to boom. The wireless bluetooth connection works well and was easy to set up on Windows 7. I can use these speakers in the bathroom when my netbook is in the lounge, which are separated by a 2 foot thick granite wall and a breeze block wall! I can also just about use them in the bedroom separated by 2 wood-panelled walls about 8 metres away.

The unit uses 4 AA batteries which I think is much better than the built in rechargeable batteries that come with some wireless speakers. Rechargeable batteries only have a life span of about 3 years and proprietary, built-in batteries often cannot be replaced or are very costly. Standard AAs are the way to go.

However, there are a few problems which prevent me giving a positive review. Firstly, the volume control is quite poor, being controlled by 2 small fiddly buttons on the front that you have to press quite firmly (although you can control the volume from the media player if you wish). As a result you have to hold the speakers at the same time to prevent them sliding backwards. A simple slider or knob would have been better.

Also, the on-off switch and aux-in are on the back so if you have the speakers up against a wall on a shelf you have to lift them away to access these. These would be better placed on the side or front of the unit. A carry handle would be a nice addition too.

Unfortunately the bluetooth connection cuts out if I try and turn the volume up high (to about 85% or more) on my computer when the speakers are running on batteries. When using the supplied AC power supply this does not happen. I have not tried it via the aux-in port yet to see if the problem occurs with that as well (it may just be that power output is limited when driven off batteries).

After running on batteries for a while the speakers periodically (every minute or so) sound 3 beeps. There is nothing in the documentation describing this beeping but it seems to be related to the amount of charge left in the rechargeable NiMH batteries I use. After approx. 6-7 hours of use after installing freshly charged batteries the annoying beeping starts up, even though the batteries have enough charge left to deliver perfectly adequate volume. If I plug the unit in to the mains or top the batteries back up the beeping stops.

The documentation provided is poor - only a quick start guide is provided and it is very hard to find any tech support/trouble shooting help on Creative's web site.

Overall, while the sound quality is good for portable speakers I expected a better all-round product for the price.

Summary
-------
Pros:
Good sound quality
Compact, light and portable
Uses AA batteries rather than non-replaceable built-in batteries

Cons:
Controls are fiddly
Positioning of on-off switch and aux-in port could be better
Can only use to about 85% of max. volume when running on batteries
Sensitive to level of charge left in batteries
Poor documentation

5.0 out of 5 stars Mini but mighty, 21 Dec. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this mini laptop to serve as an all-purpose PC mainly for programming, home entertainment and surfing. My main requirements were for a small, quiet computer that could perform these tasks adequately. The Asus Eee PC 1215N meets these requirements well.

The dual core atoms and 2Gb RAM provide good multitasking capability such that I can have 5 or 6 applications open simultaneously without any fuss. Applications load quite quickly and switching between them is fairly snappy. The 12.1 inch screen with 1366x768 resolution provides enough screen space to browse websites easily and to use integrated development environments such as Eclipse or PyScripter. Although the screen is the glossy 'glare' type it is much better than some I have used. The contrast, brightness and viewing angles are all pretty good. I would still prefer a non-reflective screen though.

Video playback is good. Streaming BBC iPlayer and downloaded .WMV files playback smoothly. However, streaming HD content from the BBC and programs played through the iPlayer desktop are jerky. This is because the Adobe software used in iPlayer does not fully utilise the Ion graphics unit (hopefully this will change in the future) and so the atom chips have to do some of the work. 720p HD content streamed from YouTube plays well although it can be a little jerky during fast moving scenes. The speakers are pretty good for a notebook and provide sufficient volume (though of course bass is a bit lacking).

The keyboard is better than expected - the keys are tactile and I have not experienced the excessive keyboard flex reported in some reviews. The touch pad and buttons are adequate but I prefer to use a wireless mouse anyway.

The 250Gb hard drive performs fine, but annoyingly is split into 2 partitions - the C drive has 100 Gb and the D drive has 177 Gb. Although a fairly minor problem it would be nicer to have a single partition.

Battery life is great, providing approx. 5.5 hours of general use, but for me the real beauty of this machine lies in its ability to perform tasks in almost complete silence. The loudest thing about my PC setup is now the spinning of my external hard drive which I had never previously been able to hear! My old Pentium 4 consumed so much unnecessary power that the fan was a constant drone. Now I can work in peace and quiet and not have to crank up the volume on videos to drown out the noise of the fan. As a result I am now hooked on these small, energy efficient computers. Oh, it also stays quite cool so it is comfortable to use on one's lap. Combine this computer with wireless speakers, mouse etc. and you can have a very compact, clutter-free setup. I have no regrets purchasing this computer.

In summary:

Pros:
It's very quiet
12.1" screen provides a nice compromise between portability and usability
Battery life (approx 5.5 hours under general use)
Keyboard has a positive feel with little flex
Speakers are pretty good for a notebook
Ion graphics card can play streaming BBC iPlayer and downloaded .wmv files without problem
Stays cool so doesn't cook your lap!

Cons:
Hard drive is split into 2 partitions
Glossy screen (though it is not as glarey as some screens)
Downloaded TV programs played via the iPlayer desktop are jerky, as is streamed BBC HD content
