Joe McCoubrey's latest offering doesn't disappoint. The novel ticks all the boxes in great storytelling from a strong opening through diverse and well developed characters with strong, well written dialogue to a mouth-watering, satisfying ending. The reader is left wanting more of the same from this talented author.
The story begins with the brutal murder of a discredited former MI6 agent who discovered secrets involving top politicians in both England and America. Now his wife and son are next in line for the same treatment. Can they survive the murderous intentions of a group of mercenaries who are hired to track them and wipe out all evidence of the wrongdoing of a British Home Secretary and an American Senator?
It's time for Mike Devon and his team to enter the fray. Can they bring the crooked and ruthless politicians to justice as they fight the band of hoodlums on both sides of the Atlantic?
This is a novel that transports the reader on a whirlwind adventure with page after page of exciting storytelling which never lets up. The author uses all his experience and talent in creating an exciting, impeccably researched and thoroughly entertaining story that brightens up even the most dark and dismal winter days. Here's to the next Mike Devon novel!

Fantastic little speaker with the capability of filling a room with the lush sounds of your favourite music. I was not expecting such quality when I ordered this item but was pleasantly surprised when the glowing colours started when I switched on the speaker. I've ordered two more as birthday presents for friends who I know will be knocked-out with the this little speaker! A great buy!!

Another cracker in the 'Mike Devon' series of books by thriller writer Joe McCoubrey. As with earlier books in the series, the reader is drawn into the murky world of international terrorism as Devon and his team use their wits and firepower in the fight against the evils of man's inhumanity to man.
The author's attention to detail is faultless as he takes the reader on a journey from the seedy night life of Budapest-where the main villain of the piece operates from- to the streets of a jittery London in this age of terror and mayhem.
The terrorist attacks in Paris, at the beginning of the book, are particular harrowing -given that this city has recently suffered real terrorist atrocities- but McCoubrey expertly uses his writing skills in dealing with such violence in a sympathetic and highly readable way.
Once again the author earns full marks for his painstaking research in this extremely enjoyable, if at times gruesome thriller.
Joe McCoubrey goes from strength to strength with each passing novel, and surely it's only a matter of time before he enjoys international acclaim.

Another winner from Irish crime writer Joe McCoubrey. This time he's given his well known creation, Mike Devon, a well earned rest having saved much of Europe in his last adventure.
The locale changes to the beautiful west of Ireland, and in particular Co.Mayo. As in all of his books McCoubrey's meticulous research is faultless as he brings a new action hero to the fore.
Mick Boyle is a washed - up, alcoholic Garda who is banished from his prime position in Dublin to the sleepy backwater towns of Castlebar and Westport. This area proves to be anything but sleepy when Boyle is suddenly plunged into a serial killer investigation, and a drugs war which sees several murders taking place. As if that wasn't enough for Boyle and his sidekick Brogan to deal with there is the added crime of the theft of two priceless paintings to solve. Can a has-been detective and a somewhat naïve Garda constable do the unthinkable and solve all of the crimes with the world's media watching their every move?
The author has written a superb page turner, with well rounded three dimensional characters, such as Jacko McStravick, who reminded me of 'Squire Red' in the famous movie "The Quiet Man," which was also set in the west of Ireland,
Joe McCoubrey has come up trumps again with a thoroughly enjoyable, exciting, and a beautifully written novel.

Another winner from thriller writer McCoubrey as the explosive action beginning on page one never lets up. it's a testimony to the author's writting skills that the reader is carried along on a tide of adventure and emotion which fill every page of this exciting novel.
Mike Devon and his unit have returned to rid Europe of terrorism but is everything all it seems as he finds himself up against his most challenging assignment yet?
I read this highly enjoyable tale in two sittings and lost all track of time as the story unfolded. If you want pure excitement and escapism, buy this book, you will not be sorry!

1.0 out of 5 stars (Plonk)er, 14 Dec. 2013
This book was written by someone who does not understand the true meaning of alcoholism. He actually thinks it's something to laugh at. Does he really think that A.A is a useless tool for abstaining from alcohol. I have seen alcholism from close hand, too close! I have treated alcoholics who came from every walk of life and were desperate for the help of A.A.
I never really understand alcoholics who stop drinking and tell the world about it!! Give me the alcoholic who does "The Twelve Steps," without preaching to the world about how 'strong' they are.
I think the author should show some maturity and follow the mantra- "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can,and wisdom to know the difference.
Cheers Buddy, here's to the next one!!
