5.0 out of 5 stars A tight, exciting adventure story!, 16 April 2009
This review is from: Blood Hunters (Paperback)
I enjoyed this novel as it is dark and gruesome in places but is ultimately about finding the light in the darkest of situations.

Joe's father is accused of the murder of his colleague and so Joe, with the help of his charming and resourceful friend Giles, sets out to prove his fathers innocence and find out what really happened. At the same time, a series of bloody, vicious attacks leave the police dumbfounded and confused. Are the two linked? And what does the expedition in Mexico to explore the worlds deepest unexplored sink hole have to do with it all?

Voake expertly weaves the strands of the narratives together to give an action packed, thrilling adventure story that keeps the reader eagerly turning page after page.

Darker than any of his other novels - it's closer to Voake's 'The Starlight Conspiracy' than his Dreamwalker novels - this is an intriguing story with a human story at its heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars A vivid and entertaining read!, 14 April 2009
This review is from: The Lady in the Tower (Paperback)
Set in the middle of Henry VIII's reign, Eleanor is fifteen years old and being forced into a marriage that she doesn't want. Her mother had been locked in the `Lady Tower' by her father four years earlier and Eleanor is the only one that can save her. The novel follows Eleanor as she tries to free her mother and escape from her crazed fathers' clutches.
I loved this novel; it is vibrant and modern whilst still maintaining a historical feel and paying attention to the details. Eleanor's voice is very clear and the characters that surround her are well drawn and vivid. The romance between Eleanor and Stanton - the man that she is being forced into marrying - burns slowly and there is great chemistry and tension between them.
I enjoyed `Between Two Seas' - Jensen's first novel - but this is my favourite of the two as Jensen seems to have hit her writing rhythm and so the reader feels more comfortable in her hands. I wanted to keep turning the pages to find out what would happen next to the feisty and interesting Eleanor and the only negative that I found was that it ended!
I would most definitely recommend this novel to historical fiction fans and also to those who just like a bloody good read!

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS ALBUM - ITS SO SO GREAT!, 14 Jun. 2005
This review is from: Speak (Audio CD)
Lindsays album is sooo great! its wicked for revising to! Heres my review of the tracks:
First - really kick ass and great for turning up really loud!
Nobody Till You - its love song but with a really rocky vibe
Symptoms of You - slower and a bit slushy but its still cool
Speak - another great one for turning up loud
Over - i have heard this soooo many times now and its a lil bit whiny but its good for a cry!
Something I Never Had - one of my fave tracks on the whole album, everyone can relate to these lyrics.
Anthing But Me - this is the only track on the album that i dont really like cos its complaining about her celeb status - like who gives a damn?
Disconnected - v Avril Lavinge this track! a bit slower and more thoughtful than the other tracks
To Know Your Name - techno-pop its ok but not the best track
Very Last Moment In Time - my no1 track of the whole album, I LOVE this song! its really upbeat and positive
Rumors - this has quite an 80's feel to it but its fun
Rumors remix - this has so much attitude! sounds a bit like Britney to me but i love it, its great to crank up in the car!
What does everyone else think?
