Russell Hobbs 20412 Colours Plus Kettle, 3000 W, 1.7 Litre, Red
Russell Hobbs 20412 Colours Plus Kettle, 3000 W, 1.7 Litre, Red
Price: £24.50

5.0 out of 5 stars A great little kettle!, 17 Aug. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This smart in appearance fast boil jug-kettle, is of metal with some plastic construction and finished off with an enamel red outer layer. The outside of this kettle is a wipe clean surface with a shiny lip and top as well as a clear water gauge under the handle that shows you how much liquid is in the jug. Simply fill the kettle with the amount of water you need, put it down on the corded base and press down the boil button - it couldn't be easier. The tradition now of the kettle itself not having a mains lead is continued and makes pouring boiling water as she as it can be.
The kettle claims to be of large capacity at 1.7l, but in my experience nearly all kettles are this size now, but that doesn't detract from the fact that this I the size you want or need!
When on the boil the switch glows red and when it has stopped the led goes out which helps people who are hearing impaired.
You can get a matching toaster to this kettle, and to be fair red is a popular kitchen colour these days.
Another triumph from Russell Hobbs at an affordable price

Rapesco Supaclip Stainless Steel Clip (Pack of 250)
Rapesco Supaclip Stainless Steel Clip (Pack of 250)
Price: £17.34

5.0 out of 5 stars Reusable, impressive results and great for the environment, 17 Aug. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
To say this is an alternative to stapling is too simplistic, because this system does things that a stapler could never do. This is really a cross between a staple gun and paper clips. You can simply and efficiently attach your paperwork together with a spring steel clip, which doesn't leave holes in the paper and doesn't damage the paper on removal.
This huge pack of 250 Superclips are made of stainless steel, which it goes without saying are reusable and are unlikely to ever rust or wear out.
The fact that you won't get any tearing later when everyone is trying to remove staples is a great help, but also by attaching them the way you save money on having to supply different folders to hold the paperwork.
Remember: each of these clips can be used again!
This system is so easy to use and lends itself to tidy presentations. I am terribly impressed with this and will use regularly in the future.
Lightweight, good for the environment, tidy and presentable - a great choice!

Rapesco Staple Tacker - Z T-Pro, Metal Tacker with 300 Staples
Price: £13.52

5.0 out of 5 stars a great gizmo that is brilliant value too!, 16 Aug. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This great little tacker is beautifully made and sits well in the hand. Made of metal and plastic and neatly designed it comes with its handle in the shipping position, which is simply moved into active mode by pushing the handle in along its length. Supplied with one strip of staples you can start using this in a minute and get instant results. This will post up almost anything on a Noticeboard or whatever else you use one of these staple tackers for. It is supplied with a clip on guide that you can set to a specific distance and put a row of tacks in all in a line. It also has a wrist strap in the box. This gizmo is really great value, works efficiently and delivers the goods

Rapesco 4-Hole Punch - 720, 22 Sheet Capacity
Rapesco 4-Hole Punch - 720, 22 Sheet Capacity
Price: £11.30

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart, robust and versatile!, 16 Aug. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This smart and robust hole punch, makes four holes at a time in your paper. It's regular black finish looks good on your desk (although unless you have a spare desk you will probably have shelf or drawer to store it). It has a lock which is controlled by a simple sliding switch at the front, which will hold the punch closed so that it will fit in a draw. There is a pull out page guide which allows you to always put your holes in the same place on A3, whereas for A4 you don't extend it. Underneath is a flip open pocket which allows you to dispose of the collected chad .
There are great advantages in four hole punching and this unit definitely allows you to take advantage of them
Punching through 20 sheets of 80g paper was the limit for this product, but frankly why would you need more?
At a sensible price there is no reason why you should ever need another, I certainly expect years of reliable use. Well done Rapesco!

STABILO EASYgraph Handwriting Pencil Right Handed 2pcs
STABILO EASYgraph Handwriting Pencil Right Handed 2pcs
Price: £3.26

3.0 out of 5 stars No advantage to the right handed, but in other ways it is a good pencil, 16 Aug. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
For the first time in my life I had the opportunity to write with a right-handed pencil and I found it a terribly disappointing experience. The fact is this pencil is no easier to write with than a regular pencil. I like the triangular design, but it doesn't make it easier. I like the diameter of the pencil lead, but it isn't any easier to write with. The unique selling point of this pencil is that it is keyed to your hand, the truth is that I cannot detect a difference. Potentially of course the left handed pencil might be revolutionary, but as a right handed person I cannot tell you that.
Having said all that if this pencil was sold to me on its 'new design' or on its 'special triangular shape' or even its 'thicker than average pencil lead', I would buy it - because all those things are true, but a right handed pencil it is not. In fact with all those other features it is a good pencil, it just simply isn't a right handed one. Normally I would only give this one star, but the other features make it a good pencil so it gets an extra two.

Should Rich Nations Help the Poor (Global Futures)
Should Rich Nations Help the Poor (Global Futures)
by David Hulme
Edition: Paperback
Price: £9.99

5.0 out of 5 stars A welcome and timely discussion, 15 Aug. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
In times of austerity there is much public debate about foreign aid budgets and especially with issues like corruption coming to the fore. David Hulme has written this brilliant essay, which can easily be read in an evening that examines the issues about how best to help the world's poor fully and even-handedly.
Bravely and in a timely fashion, Hulme asks the question 'is there another way?' of course he has an answer and it makes good reading. One thing this academically based piece is definitely not is dry and hard to assimilate - this is an easy to read book with pertinent information and good use of language.
If you are studying climate change then this book also has something to say about the inequalities brought about through this effect and its long term impact on poverty. Finally, the author suggests a new global partnership to wage war on poverty. The book concludes with a helpful section on 'further reading'.
This is an excellent contribution to the literature on the subject and a welcome addition to any general readers bookshelf.

With ample use of headings and subtitles, colour and text boxes, the layout is maximised to catch your attention and communicate important key points.
This book is not one you buy at the end of the course just to focus revision, but one that you buy at the start of the course to help focus learning as well. This book isn't a sort of optional extra, but rather an essential aid to achieving the most in your A level.
The book starts with an introduction to the themes of sociology and sociological theories, before moving on to sociological methods and key issues in research and methods. It then moves on to Education, Culture and Identity, Families and Households, Work, Poverty and Welfare. Progressing into Health, Crime, Beliefs, Global Development, the Media and Stratification and Differentiation.

Price: £36.60

5.0 out of 5 stars A high quality and robust plier stapler, 15 Aug. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This heavy duty stapler is not designed for anything that normally lays on your desk but rather for heavy duty packages such as bringing closure to big jiffy bags or sealing cardboard boxes. It's rugged metal design shows its strength and its pistol grip action is easy to operate. It comes with a bracket that attaches to the body with 2 bolts , this bracket has a sharp and strong blade on it. It comes complete with a pack of number 73 staples that are 10mm deep, which means that one staple can go through the equivalent of 70 sheets of 80g paper.

Great Answers to Tough Questions at Work
Great Answers to Tough Questions at Work
by Michael Dodd
Edition: Paperback
Price: £12.08

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book with really effective strategies, 15 Aug. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This book is written by an author with media experience, who has seen powerful people crumple under the pressure of journalistic interrogation. Much the same is true of employees cornered by their boss or ordinary people just cornered in life. This book is designed to give you a toolkit to handle those situations, so that you don't show yourself up, mess up your life and kibosh your career. The idea of planning the message you want to get across and making sure you deliver it is a powerful one. People are remembered for the stories they tell and the power of a good story is upheld here as a masterstroke in dealing with people.
The author goes on to deliver a detailed strategy on how to systematically deal with tough questions, which is really a godsend in difficult situations.
The author promotes preparation as the ultimate tool, and builds this into his strategy.
With examples like Richard Branson dealing with Virgin's first rail crash, you will find relevant stories that will help you adapt the authors strategies into your own life.
This s an excellent book that will help you with your own life skills and ultimately might keep you out of hot water.
